Abstract

Scent devices and methods are provided. In one embodiment, the present invention can be a device to scent an environment comprising a scent and a structural component. The scent stick can have a length to average cross-sectional diameter ratio of at least about 4:1 according to some embodiments. The scent stick can be colored to blend into an environmental setting to make the presence of the scent stick unobtrusive. The scent stick may also be attached or hung by the addition of a hanger or hoop. The scent stick may be hung from a tree, automobile mirror or a person as an adornment. Other embodiments are also described.

Claims (37)

1 - 24 . (canceled)

25 . A scented device comprising:

a multilayered compressed paper rod having a final length to average cross-sectional diameter ratio of at least about 4:1, the compressed paper rod being formed by winding a sheet of porous paper about a central axis, and

at least one perfume absorbed by the porous paper,

wherein the compressed paper rod is a solid rod having a fixed cross-sectional diameter.

26 . The scented device of claim 25 , wherein at least a portion of the porous paper is colored with a colorant.

27 . The scented device of claim 26 , wherein the colorant comprises one or more of a lake dye, an oil soluble dye, a water soluble dye, or a pigment.

28 . The scented device of claim 25 , wherein a colorant is printed onto the compressed paper rod.

29 . The scented device of claim 25 , further comprising a connection element disposed at an end of the compressed paper rod.

30 . The scented device of claim 29 , further comprising an attachment element, wherein a first end of the attachment element is connectable to the connection element and a second end of the attachment element includes a hook.

31 . The scented device of claim 30 , wherein the connection element defines an opening to which the first end of the attachment element can be connected.

32 . The scented device of claim 29 , wherein the connection element comprises a cap covering at least a portion of the end of the compressed paper rod.

33 . An assembly including the scented device of claim 25 and a wreath,

wherein the scented device is disposed within the wreath.

34 . An assembly including the scented device of claim 25 and a tree,

wherein the scented device is disposed within the tree.

35 . An assembly including the scented device of claim 25 and a vase,

wherein the scented device is disposed within the vase.

36 . A method of making a scented device, the method comprising:

winding a sheet of porous paper about a central axis to form a multilayered compressed paper rod having a final length to average cross-sectional diameter ratio of at least about 4:1, wherein the compressed paper rod is a solid rod having a fixed cross-sectional diameter; and

applying a perfume to at least a portion of the porous paper.

37 . The method of claim 36 , further comprising coloring at least a portion of the porous paper with a colorant.

38 . The method of claim 36 , further comprising printing a colorant onto the compressed paper rod.

39 . The method of claim 36 , further comprising disposing a connection element at an end of the compressed paper rod.

40 . The method of claim 39 , further comprising connecting a first end of an attachment element to the connection element, and wherein a second end of the attachment element includes a hook.

41 . The method of claim 40 , wherein connecting the first end of the attachment element to the connection element comprises connecting the first end of the attachment element to an opening defined by the connection element.

42 . A method comprising:

placing a scented device in an environment, wherein the scented device comprises:

a multilayered compressed paper rod having a final length to average cross-sectional diameter ratio of at least about 4:1, the compressed paper rod being formed by winding a sheet of porous paper about a central axis, wherein the compressed paper rod is a solid rod having a fixed cross-sectional diameter, and

at least one perfume absorbed by the porous paper.

43 . The method of claim 42 , wherein the scented device comprises a connection element at an end of the compressed paper rod.

44 . The method of claim 43 , wherein placing the scented device in the environment comprises connecting a first end of an attachment element to the connection element.

45 . The method of claim 44 , wherein placing the scented device in the environment comprises attaching the scented device to an object in the environment using a hook at a second end of the attachment element.

46 . The method of claim 42 , wherein placing the scented device in the environment comprises placing the scented device in a wreath.

47 . The method of claim 42 , wherein placing the scented device in the environment comprises placing the scented device in a tree.

48 . The method of claim 42 , wherein placing the scented device in the environment comprises placing the scented device in a vase.

49 . The method of claim 42 , further comprising removing the scented device from a packaging prior to placing the scented device in the environment, wherein removal of the scented device from the packaging enables scent to be emitted from the scented device into the environment.
