Abstract

The present invention provides a method and system for verifying and tracking transactional information. In an embodiment of the invention, a system for delivering security solutions is provided that includes at least one of the following: a radio frequency (RF) identification device, an identification mechanism (e.g., a card, sticker), and an RF reader.

Claims (38)

1. A mobile device, comprising:

radio frequency (RF) cellular circuitry;

a memory configured to store biometric authentication information and payment information;

a biometric reading device configured to read biometric information; and

at least one processor configured to execute instructions stored in the memory that, when executed by the at least one processor, causes the at least one processor to perform operations of:

establishing a wireless connection with a device corresponding to a merchant, via the RF cellular circuitry, to perform a transaction,

prompting a user of the mobile device to provide biometric information to the biometric reading device to complete the transaction, wherein the biometric reading device reads the provided biometric information,

determining whether the provided biometric information read by the biometric reading device corresponds to the biometric authentication information stored in the memory,

generating a key in response to successfully determining that the provided biometric information read by the biometric reading device corresponds to the biometric authentication information,

generating encrypted data by encrypting the key and the payment information stored in the memory, and

providing, via the RF cellular circuitry, the encrypted data to the device corresponding to the merchant to complete the transaction.

2. The mobile device of claim 1 , wherein the payment information is associated with a primary account number.

3. The mobile device of claim 1 , wherein the biometric authentication information is stored separately from the payment information.

4. The mobile device of claim 1 , wherein the payment information is stored in a portion of the memory accessible only in response to successfully determining that the provided biometric information read by the biometric reading device corresponds to the biometric authentication information.

5. A system, comprising:

a mobile device, comprising:

radio frequency (RF) cellular circuitry;

a memory configured to store biometric authentication information, and payment information;

a biometric reading device configured to read biometric information; and

at least one processor configured to execute instructions stored in the memory that, when executed by the at least one processor, causes the at least one processor to perform operations of:

establishing a wireless connection with a device corresponding to a merchant, via the RF cellular circuitry, to perform a transaction,

prompting a user of the mobile device to provide biometric information to the biometric reading device to complete the transaction, wherein the biometric reading device reads the provided biometric information,

determining whether the provided biometric information read by the biometric reading device corresponds to the biometric authentication information stored in the memory,

generating a key in response to successfully determining that the provided biometric information read by the biometric reading device corresponds to the biometric authentication information,

generating encrypted data by encrypting the key and the payment information stored in the memory, and

providing, via the RF cellular circuitry, the encrypted data to the device corresponding to the merchant to complete the transaction; and

the device corresponding to the merchant comprising at least one memory and at least one processor operably coupled to the at least one memory of the device corresponding to the merchant, the at least one processor of the device corresponding to the merchant configured to execute instructions stored in the at least one memory of the device corresponding to the merchant that, when executed by the at least one processor of the device corresponding to the merchant, causes the at least one processor of the device corresponding to the merchant to perform operations of:

receiving, from the mobile device, the encrypted data; and

transmitting the encrypted data to a central database.

6. The system of claim 5 , wherein the payment information is associated with a primary account number.

7. The system of claim 5 , wherein the biometric authentication information is stored separately from the payment information.

8. The system of claim 5 , wherein the payment information is stored in a portion of the memory of the mobile device accessible only in response to successfully determining that the provided biometric information read by the biometric reading device corresponds to the biometric authentication information.

9. The mobile device of claim 1 , wherein the provided biometric information is used only for completing the transaction.

10. The mobile device of claim 1 , wherein the encrypted data is used in retrieving the payment information for completing the transaction only.

11. The mobile device of claim 1 , wherein the mobile device is a mobile telephone.

12. The system of claim 5 , wherein the device corresponding to the merchant is configured to identify the user and present the transaction to the user.

13. The system of claim 5 , wherein the encrypted data is used only for completing the transaction.

14. The system of claim 5 , wherein the mobile device is a mobile telephone.
