Appendage clamp deployment assist device
The instant disclosure is directed to devices and methods for deploying a biased occlusion clamp. In addition, the present disclosure includes devices and methods for deploying a biased occlusion clamp using robotics. Moreover, the present disclosure includes devices and methods for reducing the force necessary to open an occlusion clamp without permanently compromising the clamping force of the clamp itself.
1. An occlusion device comprising:
an occlusion clamp comprising a first beam and a second beam biased toward one another;
at least two cylindrical pockets, fabricated from a fabric, mounted to the occlusion clamp, and,
an occlusion clamp deployment device comprising a pair of repositionable shafts removably coupled to the occlusion clamp, each repositionable shaft configured to be received within a respective one of the at least two cylindrical pockets;
wherein each of the respective pockets is closed along a longitudinal, dominant dimension of the pocket.
2. The occlusion device of claim 1 , wherein:
the first beam and the second beam extend parallel to one another; and,
the respective pockets extend parallel to one another and to the first and second beams.
3. The occlusion device of claim 1 , wherein each of the respective pockets delineates a longitudinal cavity having a closed longitudinal end.
4. The occlusion device of claim 3 , wherein a first closed longitudinal end of a first of the respective pockets is longitudinally spaced from a second closed longitudinal end of a second of the respective pockets.
5. The occlusion device of claim 1 , wherein:
the first beam and the second beam are circumscribed in a clamp fabric; and,
the fabric comprising the respective pockets is separable from the clamp fabric.
6. The occlusion device of claim 1 , wherein:
the first beam and the second beam are circumscribed in a clamp fabric; and,
at least one of the respective pockets is generally parallel with at least one of the first beam and the second beam.
7. An occlusion device comprising:
an occlusion clamp comprising a first beam and a second beam biased toward one another;
at least two cylindrical pockets, fabricated from a fabric, mounted to the occlusion clamp, and,
an occlusion clamp deployment device comprising a pair of repositionable shafts removably coupled to the occlusion clamp, each repositionable shaft configured to be received within a respective one of the at least two cylindrical pockets;
wherein each of the respective pockets delineates a longitudinal cavity having a closed longitudinal end.
8. The occlusion device of claim 7 , wherein:
the first beam and the second beam extend parallel to one another; and,
the respective pockets extend parallel to one another and to the first and second beams.
9. The occlusion device of claim 7 , wherein a first closed longitudinal end of a first of the respective pockets is longitudinally spaced from a second closed longitudinal end of a second of the respective pockets.
10. The occlusion device of claim 7 , wherein:
the first beam and the second beam are circumscribed in a clamp fabric; and,
the fabric comprising the respective pockets is separable from the clamp fabric.
11. The occlusion device of claim 7 , wherein:
the first beam and the second beam are circumscribed in a clamp fabric; and,
at least one of the respective pockets is generally parallel with at least one of the first beam and the second beam.
