Abstract

Example methods, apparatus, and computer readable storage media are described and disclosed. An example method includes receiving, by a computing device, market data related to a tradeable object. The example method includes displaying, by the computing device, a flexible price-volume indicator, the flexible price-volume indicators aligned with a specific value level in a value axis. The example method includes updating, by the computing device, a display property associated with the flexible price-volume indicator, the display property reflecting a quantity value determined based on the received market data. The example method includes displaying, by the computing device, the flexible price-volume indicator in a differentiated state based on a change in the market data.

Claims (52)

1. A method including:

receiving, by a computing device, market data related to a tradeable object;

displaying, by the computing device, a value axis having a plurality of value levels determined according to the market data;

receiving, via a user input device of the computing device, a user selection of a specific value level of the plurality of value levels in the value axis to mark the value level;

in response to receiving the user selection of the specific value level:

displaying, by the computing device, a flexible price-volume indicator, the flexible price-volume indicator aligned with the specific value level of the plurality of value levels in the value axis,

automatically generating, by the computing device, a rule based on the received market data for the specific value level, and

monitoring, via the computing device as the market data is received, market activity with respect to the received market data for the specific value level and the rule;

updating, by the computing device, a display property associated with the flexible price-volume indicator, the display property reflecting a quantity value determined based on an analysis of the rule according to monitoring the market activity with respect to the received market data for the specific value level and the rule; and

displaying, by the computing device, the flexible price-volume indicator in a differentiated state based on a change in the market data.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein a plurality of flexible price-volume indicators are displayed and updated, each of the plurality of flexible price-volume indicators aligned with a respective specific value level in a value axis.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the quantity value determined based on the received market data includes a volume of the tradeable object traded at the specific value level aligned with the flexible price-volume indicator.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the quantity value determined based on the received market data includes a quantity value determined based on at least one of historical received market data and current received market data.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the display property comprises at least one of a color, a pattern, and a shading of the flexible price-volume indicator.

6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the flexible price-volume indicator includes alphanumeric data and a graphical indicator.

7. The method of claim 1 , wherein the differentiated state reflects a change in the market data corresponding to a market condition including at least one of an inside market, a last traded price, and a largest traded quantity in a period of time.

8. The method of claim 1 , wherein the differentiated state of the price-volume indicator includes at least one of a change in color of the price-volume indicator, an addition of a pattern to the price-volume indicator, an animation of the price-volume indicator, and an addition of an alphanumeric value to the price-volume indicator.

9. A tangible computer readable storage medium including instructions that, when executed, cause a computing device to at least:

receive, by the computing device, market data related to a tradeable object;

display, by the computing device, a value axis having a plurality of value levels determined according to the market data;

receive, via a user input device of the computing device, a user selection of a specific value level of the plurality of value levels in the value axis to mark the value level;

in response to receiving the user selection of the specific value:

automatically generate, by the computing device, a rule based on the received market data for the specific value level,

monitor, via the computing device as the market data is received, market activity with respect to the received market data for the specific value level and the rule, and

display, by the computing device, a flexible price-volume indicator, the flexible price-volume indicator aligned with the specific value level of the plurality of value levels in the value axis;

update, by the computing device, a display property associated with the flexible price-volume indicator, the display property reflecting a quantity value determined based on an analysis of the rule according to monitoring the market activity with respect to the received market data for the specific value level and the rule; and

display, by the computing device, the flexible price-volume indicator in a differentiated state based on a change in the market data.

10. The computer readable storage medium of claim 9 , wherein a plurality of flexible price-volume indicators are displayed and updated, each of the plurality of flexible price-volume indicators aligned with a respective specific value level in a value axis.

11. The computer readable storage medium of claim 9 , wherein the quantity value determined based on the received market data includes a volume of the tradeable object traded at the specific value level aligned with the flexible price-volume indicator.

12. The computer readable storage medium of claim 9 , wherein the quantity value determined based on the received market data includes a quantity value determined based on at least one of historical received market data and current received market data.

13. The computer readable storage medium of claim 9 , wherein the display property comprises at least one of a color, a pattern, and a shading of the flexible price-volume indicator.

14. The computer readable storage medium of claim 9 , wherein the flexible price-volume indicator includes alphanumeric data and a graphical indicator.

15. The computer readable storage medium of claim 9 , wherein the differentiated state reflects a change in the market data corresponding to a market condition including at least one of an inside market, a last traded price, and a largest traded quantity in a period of time.

16. The computer readable storage medium of claim 9 , wherein the differentiated state of the price-volume indicator includes at least one of a change in color of the price-volume indicator, an addition of a pattern to the price-volume indicator, an animation of the price-volume indicator, and an addition of an alphanumeric value to the price-volume indicator.

17. An apparatus including:

a computing device including a processor and a memory, the processor configured to execute instructions in the memory to at least:

receive, by the computing device, market data related to a tradeable object;

display, by the computing device, a value axis having a plurality of value levels determined according to the market data;

receive, via a user input device of the computing device, a user selection of a specific value level of the plurality of value levels in the value axis to mark the value level;

in response to receiving the user selection of the specific value:

display, by the computing device, a flexible price-volume indicator, the flexible price-volume indicator aligned with the specific value level of the plurality of value levels in the value axis,

automatically generate, by the computing device, a rule based on the received market data for the specific value level, and

monitor, by the computing device as the market data is received, market activity with respect to the received market data for the specific value level and the rule;

update, by the computing device, a display property associated with the flexible price-volume indicator, the display property reflecting a quantity value determined based on an analysis of the rule according to monitoring the market activity with respect to the received market data for the specific value level and the rule; and

display, by the computing device, the flexible price-volume indicator in a differentiated state based on a change in the market data.

18. The apparatus of claim 17 , wherein a plurality of flexible price-volume indicators are displayed and updated, each of the plurality of flexible price-volume indicators aligned with a respective specific value level in a value axis.

19. The apparatus of claim 17 , wherein the quantity value determined based on the received market data includes a volume of the tradeable object traded at the specific value level aligned with the flexible price-volume indicator.

20. The apparatus of claim 17 , wherein the quantity value determined based on the received market data includes a quantity value determined based on at least one of historical received market data and current received market data.

21. The apparatus of claim 17 , wherein the display property comprises at least one of a color, a pattern, and a shading of the flexible price-volume indicator.

22. The apparatus of claim 17 , wherein the flexible price-volume indicator includes alphanumeric data and a graphical indicator.

23. The apparatus of claim 17 , wherein the differentiated state reflects a change in the market data corresponding to a market condition including at least one of an inside market, a last traded price, and a largest traded quantity in a period of time.

24. The apparatus of claim 17 , wherein the differentiated state of the price-volume indicator includes at least one of a change in color of the price-volume indicator, an addition of a pattern to the price-volume indicator, an animation of the price-volume indicator, and an addition of an alphanumeric value to the price-volume indicator.
