Abstract

Devices, systems, methods, and software for providing remote medical diagnosis and therapy to a subject comprising: a module for conducting telecommunications with a telemedicalist; a module for applying a diagnostic or a therapeutic analysis; an apparatus for dispensing one or more medical items from an inventory of medical items, the inventory of medical items risk profiled to a subject, a population, a venue, or a situation; and optionally, a biosensor apparatus.

Claims (57)

1. A dispenser configured to provide a remote healthcare encounter for a subject seeking to offset a cost associated with said healthcare encounter, wherein said dispenser comprises:

an inventory item contained within said dispenser, wherein said inventory item contained within said dispenser is selected and placed within said dispenser in accordance with a risk of said subject developing for a first time a medical condition that is treated by said inventory item contained within said dispenser and wherein said dispenser is configured to dispense said inventory item;

a processor operatively coupled to said dispenser; and

a non-transitory computer-readable storage media encoded with a computer program including instructions executable by said processor comprising

a software module configured to access information received during said remote healthcare encounter, said information received during said remote healthcare encounter comprising

said medical condition of said subject, and

a treatment plan suggested by a care provider;

a software module configured to transform said information received during said remote healthcare encounter into a numerical format useful for application in statistical modeling to determine an economic risk of an adverse outcome related to said health encounter;

a software module configured to determine, based on said numerical format, a first economic risk of an adverse outcome associated with one or more of said medical condition of said subject and said treatment plan suggested by said care provider, and a second economic risk for an adverse outcome associated with an alternative treatment plan for said medical condition;

a software module configured to calculate, based on said first and second economic risks, a cost of a first guarantee premium to at least in part offset a cost associated with said first economic risk, and a cost of a second guarantee premium to at least in part offset a cost associated with said second economic risk; and

a software module configured to report a comparison of said cost of said first guarantee premium associated with said first economic risk and a cost of said second guarantee premium associated with said second economic risk.

2. The dispenser of claim 1 , wherein said non-transitory computer readable storage medium is a component of a mobile computing device.

3. The dispenser of claim 2 , wherein said mobile computing device comprises a smartphone.

4. The dispenser of claim 1 , wherein said non-transitory computer readable storage medium is coupled to a hardware module configured to identify said subject.

5. The dispenser of claim 1 , wherein said remote healthcare encounter comprises a telemedical encounter.

6. The dispenser of claim 1 , wherein said medical condition of said subject comprises one or more of a symptom, condition, and disease reported by said subject or a guardian.

7. The dispenser of claim 1 , wherein said medical condition of said subject is provided by a health care provider or payer.

8. The dispenser of claim 1 , wherein said treatment plan comprises a treatment to be provided in an inpatient setting in a hospital or in an outpatient setting with an estimated specific start and completion timeframe.

9. The dispenser of claim 8 , wherein said estimated specific start and completion timeframe comprises either 12 hours or less, 24 hours or less, or 72 hours or less.

10. The dispenser of claim 1 , wherein either said cost of said first guarantee premium or said cost of said second guarantee premium is determined based on an average of previous costs of guarantee premiums specific to a subject, a provider, or a therapy.

The dispenser of claim 1 , wherein either said cost of said first guarantee premium or said cost of said second risk is determined based on a cost of a guarantee premium previously associated with said subject, and previously associated with a specific suggested provider or suggested therapy outcome.

12. The dispenser of claim 1 , wherein either said cost of said first guarantee premium or said cost of said second guarantee premium is determined based on a previous cost for a guarantee premium associated with a different subject.

13. The dispenser of claim 1 , wherein said first economic risks comprises a risk over a duration of either 12 hours or less, 24 hours or less, or 72 hours or less, and said second economic risk comprises a risk over a duration of either 12 hours or less, 24 hours or less, or 72 hours or less.

14. The dispenser of claim 1 , wherein said instructions determining a treatment plan associated with a lowest economic risk from a plurality of different treatment plans associated with different economic risks.

15. The dispenser of claim 1 , wherein said instructions executable by said processor further comprise a software module configured to report said treatment plan associated with said lowest economic risk from a plurality of economic risks associated with different treatment plans.

16. The dispenser of claim 1 , wherein said instructions executable by said processor further comprise a software module configured to wirelessly transmit said cost of said first guarantee premium and said cost of said second guarantee premium to a mobile computing device.

17. The dispenser of claim 1 , wherein said instructions executable by said processor further comprise a software module configured to determine an accuracy of said calculated cost of said first guarantee premium and said cost of said second guarantee premium.

18. The dispenser of claim 17 , wherein said instructions executable by said processor further comprise a software module configured to modify, based on said accuracy determination, either said cost of said first guarantee premium or said cost of said second guarantee premium.

19. The dispenser of claim 1 , wherein said first and said second economic risks are calculated based on at least one of a plurality of known risk factors associated with one or more of said subject, a provider, or a therapy.

20. The dispenser of claim 1 , wherein said first and said second economic risks are calculated based on at least one of a plurality of known risk factors associated with said telemedical care provider.

21. The dispenser of claim 1 , wherein said first and said second economic risk determinations are calculated using statistical analysis methods comprising one or more of Adaboost, Gradient Boosting, Stochastic Gradient Boosting, Stacking, A Bayesian Model Averaging, and a Query by Committee.

The dispenser of claim 1 , wherein said first and said second economic risks change if additional information is received following said remote healthcare encounter, said additional information relating to one or more of said condition of said subject following said remote healthcare encounter and said treatment plan suggested by said care provider.

23. The dispenser of claim 1 , wherein said cost of said first and said second guarantee premiums remain unchanged while no additional information is received following said remote healthcare encounter.

24. The dispenser of claim 1 , wherein said inventory item contained within said dispenser comprises a pharmaceutical.

25. The dispenser of claim 1 , further comprising a software module for verifying credentials of a telemedical care provider.

26. The dispenser of claim 1 , further comprising a software module for identifying the subject.

27. The dispenser of claim 1 , further comprising a software module for securely accessing one or more electronic health records for the subject.

28. A computer-implemented method of offsetting an economic risk of a remote healthcare encounter comprising:

providing, to a subject, a dispenser configured to provide said remote healthcare encounter, wherein said dispenser comprises an inventory item contained within said dispenser, wherein said inventory item contained within said dispenser is selected and placed within said dispenser in accordance with a risk of a subject developing for a first time a medical condition that is treated by said inventory item contained within said dispenser, and wherein said dispenser is functionally coupled with a computer;

accessing, by said computer, information received during said remote healthcare encounter, said information received during said remote healthcare encounter comprising

said medical condition of said subject, and

a treatment plan suggested by a care provider;

transforming, by said computer, said information received during said remote healthcare encounter into a numerical format useful for application in statistical modeling to determine an economic risk of an adverse outcome related to said remote healthcare encounter;

determining, by said computer, based on said numerical format, a first economic risk of an adverse outcome associated with one or more of said medical condition of said subject and said treatment plan suggested by said care provider, and a second economic risk for an adverse outcome associated with an alternative treatment plan for said medical condition;

calculating, by said computer, based on said first and second economic risks, a cost of a first guarantee premium to at least in part offset a cost associated with said first economic risk, and a cost of a second guarantee premium to at least in part offset a cost associated with said second economic risk; and

reporting, by said computer, a comparison of said cost of said first guarantee premium associated with said first economic risk and a cost of said second guarantee premium associated with said second economic risk.

29. A computer implemented system for a subject seeking to offset a cost associated with a remote healthcare encounter, comprising:

a dispenser configured to provide said remote healthcare encounter, wherein said dispenser comprises an inventory item contained within said dispenser, wherein said inventory item contained within said dispenser is selected and placed within said dispenser in accordance with a risk of said subject developing for a first time a medical condition that is treated by said inventory item contained within said dispenser and wherein said dispenser is configured to dispense said inventory item;

a digital processing device comprising an operating system configured to perform executable instructions and a memory; and

a computer program including instructions executable by said digital processing device comprising

a software module configured to access information received during said remote healthcare encounter, said information received during said remote healthcare encounter comprising

said medical condition of said subject, and

a treatment plan suggested by a care provider;

a software module configured to transform said information received during said remote healthcare encounter into a numerical format useful for application in statistical modeling to determine an economic risk of an adverse outcome related to said remote healthcare encounter;

a software module configured to determine, based on said numerical format, a first economic risk of an adverse outcome associated with one or more of said medical condition of said subject and said treatment plan suggested by said care provider, and a second economic risk for an adverse outcome associated with an alternative treatment plan for said medical condition;

a software module configured to calculate, based on said first and second economic risks, a cost of a first guarantee premium to at least in part offset a cost associated with said first economic risk, and a cost of a second guarantee premium to at least in part offset a cost associated with said second economic risk; and

a software module configured to report a comparison of said cost of said first guarantee premium associated with said first economic risk and a cost of said second guarantee premium associated with said second economic risk.
