Automatic transition of content based on facial recognition
View Patent ↗Methods and systems for automatically transitioning content based on facial recognition, wherein the method may include receiving a signal from a camera, identifying a face of a viewer within an area, retrieving a user identifier associated with the face of the viewer, selecting a program, and displaying the program.
1. A method for transitioning content, comprising:
receiving a first signal from a first camera that is associated with a first area;
identifying a face of a viewer within the first area based on the first signal;
retrieving a user identifier associated with the face of the viewer;
causing a program to be displayed on a first device in the first area;
detecting that the viewer is no longer interacting with the first device based on the received first signal;
associating a time parameter of the program that corresponds to the detection with the user identifier;
receiving a second signal from a second camera that is associated with a second area;
determining that the face of the viewer has been identified within the second area based on the received second signal and the user identifier; and
in response to the determination, causing the program to be displayed on a second device in the second area, wherein the program is displayed on the second device based on the associated time parameter of the program.
2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising causing the program to no longer be displayed on the first device in the first area.
3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the time parameter corresponds to a segment of the program that is paused.
4. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
identifying a face of a second viewer within the first area based on the first signal;
retrieving a second user identifier associated with the face of the second viewer;
detecting that the second viewer is interacting with the first device based on the received first signal; and
in response to detecting that the second viewer is interacting with the first device, continuing to display the program on the first device in the first area.
5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the first signal from the first camera and the second signal from the second camera each comprise an image.
6. The method of claim 1 , wherein identifying the face of the viewer within the first area further comprises:
inferring a viewer position relative to the first camera; and
determining whether the user is interacting with the first camera.
7. A system for transitioning content, the system comprising:
a hardware processor that is programmed to:
receive a first signal from a first camera that is associated with a first area;
identify a face of a viewer within the first area based on the first signal;
retrieve a user identifier associated with the face of the viewer;
cause a program to be displayed on a first device in the first area;
detect that the viewer is no longer interacting with the first device based on the received first signal;
associate a time parameter of the program that corresponds to the detection with the user identifier;
receive a second signal from a second camera that is associated with a second area;
determine that the face of the viewer has been identified within the second area based on the received second signal and the user identifier; and
in response to the determination, cause the program to be displayed on a second device in the second area, wherein the program is displayed on the second device based on the associated time parameter of the program.
8. The system of claim 7 , wherein the hardware processor is further programmed to cause the program to no longer be displayed on the first device in the first area.
9. The system of claim 7 , wherein the time parameter corresponds to a segment of the program that is paused.
10. The system of claim 7 , wherein the hardware processor is further programmed to:
identify a face of a second viewer within the first area based on the first signal;
retrieve a second user identifier associated with the face of the second viewer;
detect that the second viewer is interacting with the first device based on the received first signal; and
in response to detecting that the second viewer is interacting with the first device, continue to display the program on the first device in the first area.
11. The system of claim 7 , wherein the first signal from the first camera and the second signal from the second camera each comprise an image.
12. The system of claim 7 , wherein the hardware processor is further programmed to:
infer a viewer position relative to the first camera; and
determine whether the user is interacting with the first camera.
13. A non-transitory computer-readable medium containing computer executable instructions that, when executed by a processor, cause the processor to perform a method for transitioning content, the method comprising:
receiving a first signal from a first camera that is associated with a first area;
identifying a face of a viewer within the first area based on the first signal;
retrieving a user identifier associated with the face of the viewer;
causing a program to be displayed on a first device in the first area;
detecting that the viewer is no longer interacting with the first device based on the received first signal;
associating a time parameter of the program that corresponds to the detection with the user identifier;
receiving a second signal from a second camera that is associated with a second area;
determining that the face of the viewer has been identified within the second area based on the received second signal and the user identifier; and
in response to the determination, causing the program to be displayed on a second device in the second area, wherein the program is displayed on the second device based on the associated time parameter of the program.
14. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 13 , wherein the method further comprises causing the program to no longer be displayed on the first device in the first area.
15. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 13 , wherein the time parameter corresponds to a segment of the program that is paused.
16. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 13 , wherein the method further comprises:
identifying a face of a second viewer within the first area based on the first signal;
retrieving a second user identifier associated with the face of the second viewer;
detecting that the second viewer is interacting with the first device based on the received first signal; and
in response to detecting that the second viewer is interacting with the first device, continuing to display the program on the first device in the first area.
17. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 13 , wherein the first signal from the first camera and the second signal from the second camera each comprise an image.
18. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 13 , wherein identifying the face of the viewer within the first area further comprises:
inferring a viewer position relative to the first camera; and
determining whether the user is interacting with the first camera.
