Herein are disclosed indoles of formula (I) where the various groups are defined herein, and which are useful for treating cancer.
1. A method of treating cancer comprising administering to a patient with cancer a therapeutically effective amount of a compound which is N-[(4,6-dimethyl-2-oxo-1,2-dihydro-3-pyridinyl)methyl]-3-methyl-1-[(1S)-1-methylpropyl]-6-[6-(1-piperazinyl)-3-pyridinyl]-1H-indole-4-carboxamide, represented by the formula:
or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
2. The method of claim 1 wherein the compound is administered as a free base.

The method of claim 1 , wherein said cancer is selected from the group consisting of: brain, glioblastomas, leukemias, lymphomas, Bannayan-Zonana syndrome, Cowden disease, Lhermitte-Duclos disease, breast, inflammatory breast cancer, Wilm's tumor, Ewing's sarcoma, Rhabdomyosarcoma, ependymoma, medulloblastoma, colon, gastric, bladder, head and neck, kidney, lung, liver, melanoma, renal, ovarian, pancreatic, prostate, sarcoma, osteosarcoma, giant cell tumor of bone and thyroid.

The method of claim 2 , wherein said cancer is selected from the group consisting of: brain, glioblastomas, leukemias, lymphomas, Bannayan-Zonana syndrome, Cowden disease, Lhermitte-Duclos disease, breast, inflammatory breast cancer, Wilm's tumor, Ewing's sarcoma, Rhabdomyosarcoma, ependymoma, medulloblastoma, colon, gastric, bladder, head and neck, kidney, lung, liver, melanoma, renal, ovarian, pancreatic, prostate, sarcoma, osteosarcoma, giant cell tumor of bone and thyroid.
