Abstract

A method executed in a processor of a computing device for providing a page transition effect is provided. The method includes receiving input defining a virtual page material type for an e-book, receiving a request for audio enhancement corresponding to page turning the e-book, tracking progress of a user through a current page and in response to the user turning the current page, generating a sound corresponding to the virtual page type material.

Claims (57)

1 . A method executed in a processor of a computing device, the computing device further including a memory storing instructions and a display screen rendering e-book content including text formatted according to a series of digitally constructed pages, the method comprising:

receiving input defining a virtual page material type for an e-book;

receiving a request for audio enhancement corresponding to page turning said e-book;

tracking progress of a user through a current page; and

in response to said user turning said current page, generating a sound corresponding to said virtual page type material.

2 . The method of claim 1 further comprising:

receiving input defining said virtual page material type for said e-book according to a page type used when said e-book was originally printed.

3 . The method of claim 1 further comprising:

tracking progress of said user through said e-book; and

adjusting a volume of said sound according to said progress.

4 . The method of claim 3 further comprising:

generating a lower volume of said sound at a beginning of said e-book.

5 . The method of claim 3 further comprising:

generating a louder volume of said sound at a end of said e-book.

6 . The method of claim 1 further comprising:

receiving input defining said page material type as coated or uncoated paper.

7 . The method of claim 1 further comprising:

receiving input defining said page material type as offset paper, parchment, papyrus, onionskin, bond paper, India paper, manila paper, newsprint, or linen.

A computer-readable medium that stores instructions for a computing device, the computing device including a processor, a memory and a display screen rendering e-book content including text formatted according to a series of digitally constructed pages, the instructions being executable by the processor to cause the computing device to perform operations that include:

receiving input defining a virtual page material type for an e-book;

receiving a request for audio enhancement corresponding to page turning said e-book;

tracking progress of a user through a current page; and

in response to said user turning said current page, generating a sound corresponding to said virtual page type material.

9 . The computer-readable medium of claim 8 wherein said operations further include:

receiving input defining said virtual page material type for said e-book according to a page type used when said e-book was originally printed.

10 . The computer-readable medium of claim 8 wherein said operations further include:

tracking progress of said user through said e-book; and

adjusting a volume of said sound according to said progress.

11 . The computer-readable medium of claim 10 wherein said operations further include:

generating a lower volume of said sound at a beginning of said e-book.

12 . The computer-readable medium of claim 10 wherein said operations further include:

generating a louder volume of said sound at a end of said e-book.

13 . The computer-readable medium of claim 8 wherein said operations further include:

receiving input defining said page material type as coated or uncoated paper.

14 . The computer-readable medium of claim 8 wherein said operations further include:

receiving input defining said page material type as offset paper, parchment, papyrus, onionskin, bond paper, India paper, manila paper, newsprint, or linen.

15 . A computing device comprising:

a memory that stores a set of instructions;

a display screen rendering e-book content including text formatted according to a series of digitally constructed pages;

a processor that access the instructions in memory, the processor further configured to perform a method including:

receiving input defining a virtual page material type for an e-book;

receiving a request for audio enhancement corresponding to page turning said e-book;

tracking progress of a user through a current page; and

in response to said user turning said current page, generating a sound corresponding to said virtual page type material.

16 . The computing device of claim 15 wherein said method further comprises:

receiving input defining said virtual page material type for said e-book according to a page type used when said e-book was originally printed.

17 . The computing device of claim 15 wherein said method further comprises:

tracking progress of said user through said e-book; and

adjusting a volume of said sound according to said progress.

18 . The computing device of claim 17 wherein said method further comprises:

generating a lower volume of said sound at a beginning of said e-book.

19 . The computing device of claim 17 wherein said method further comprises:

generating a louder volume of said sound at a end of said e-book.

20 . The computing device of claim 17 wherein said method further comprises:

receiving input defining said page material type as coated or uncoated paper.

21 . The computing device of claim 15 wherein said method further comprises:

receiving input defining said page material type as offset paper, parchment, papyrus, onionskin, bond paper, India paper, manila paper, newsprint, or linen.
