Abstract

Tubular bodies for use in frames for seats of vehicles such as aircraft are described. A tube can include a sidewall that has a variable thickness along the length of the tube. The variable thickness of the sidewalls can result in the tube having a variable inner diameter along the length of the tube. The tube may also include a variable outer diameter.

Claims (16)

1 - 18 . (canceled)

19 . An aircraft seat frame comprising:

a tubular body comprising a first end segment, a second end segment, and a third segment positioned between the two end segments, each segment comprising an inner diameter and an outer diameter;

wherein the outer diameter of the first end segment is greater than the outer diameter of at least one of the second end segment or the third segment; and

wherein the inner diameter of the third segment is smaller than the inner diameter of at least one of the first end segment or the second end segment.

20 . The aircraft seat frame of claim 19 , wherein the inner diameter of the first end segment and the inner diameter of the second end segment are substantially equal.

21 . The aircraft seat frame of claim 19 , wherein the tubular body is made from at least one of aluminum or steel.

22 . The aircraft seat frame of claim 19 , wherein the tubular body is made from a cold form drawing process.

23 . An aircraft seat frame comprising:

a tubular body comprising a first outer diameter at a first end, and a second outer diameter at a second end, wherein the first outer diameter is greater than the second outer diameter;

the tubular body comprising an inner diameter that varies in size along a length of the tubular body extending from the first end to the second end.

24 . The aircraft seat frame of claim 23 , wherein a central portion is positioned between the first end and the second end.

25 . The aircraft seat frame of claim 24 , wherein an inner diameter of the central portion is smaller than at least one of the inner diameter of the first end or the second end.

26 . The aircraft seat frame of claim 25 , wherein the inner diameter of the first end and the inner diameter of the second end are substantially equal.

27 . The aircraft seat frame of claim 23 , wherein the tubular body is made from at least one of aluminum or steel.

28 . The aircraft seat frame of claim 23 , wherein the tubular body is made from a cold form drawing process.
