Abstract

Disclosed herein are systems, apparatuses, and methods for creating a system of wireless-enabled components (WECs). Such a system includes a server and a plurality of wireless-enabled component (WECs). Each WEC includes a functional resource (e.g., a processing resource and/or a memory resource) and is configured for wireless communication with the server and one or more other WECs. A first WEC is configured to wirelessly upload, to the server, an availability of the functional resource of the first WEC. The first WEC is further configured to wirelessly download, from the server, a linking resource for linking with one or more of the plurality of WECs. The plurality of WECs may be located on a single chip, on multiple chips of a single device, or on multiple chips of multiple devices.

Claims (53)

1. A method, implemented in a wireless-enabled component (WEC), for creating a system of WECs on the fly, comprising:

searching, using a predetermined search algorithm, an environment for one or more other WECs;

wirelessly uploading, to a server, an availability of a functional resource of the WEC, wherein the functional resource includes a memory resource or a processing resource;

wirelessly downloading, from the server, a linking resource for linking with the one or more other WECs, wherein the linking resource identifies the one or more other WECs and associated capabilities of the one or more other WECs; and

wirelessly communicating with at least one WEC of the one or more other WECs based on the downloaded linking resource.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the WEC and the one or more other WECs are located within a single chip.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the WEC and the one or more other WECs are located within a plurality of chips within a common device.

4. The method of claim 1 , further comprising wirelessly uploading, to the server, a location of the WEC.

5. The method of claim 4 , further comprising wirelessly uploading, to the server, a desired resource that the WEC is attempting to couple with.

6. The method of claim 5 , further comprising wirelessly uploading, to the server, a communication protocol for wirelessly communicating with the one or more other WECs or a security code for wirelessly communicating with the one or more other WECs.

7. The method of claim 1 , wherein the downloaded linking resource further identifies the at least one WEC of the one or more other WECs to be included in the system on the fly.

8. The method of claim 7 , wherein the downloaded linking resource further identifies a type of link between the WEC and the one or more other WECs.

9. The method of claim 8 , wherein the downloaded linking resource updates an operating system or a program code of the WEC.

10. A wireless-enabled component (WEC), comprising:

a memory resource;

a processor resource; and

a wireless communications module configured to

search an environment for one or more other WECs using a predetermined search algorithm,

wirelessly upload, to a server, an availability of the memory resource or the processing resource,

wirelessly download, from the server, a linking resource for linking with the one or more other WECs, wherein the linking resource identifies the one or more other WECs and associated capabilities of the one or more other WECs, and

wirelessly communicate with at least one WEC of the one or more other WECs based on the downloaded linking resource.

11. The WEC of claim 10 , wherein the wireless communication module is further configured to wirelessly upload, to the server, a location of the WEC.

12. The WEC of claim 11 , wherein the wireless communication module is further configured to wirelessly upload, to the server, a desired resource that the WEC is attempting to couple with.

13. The WEC of claim 12 , wherein the wireless communication module is further configured to wirelessly upload, to the server, a communication protocol for wirelessly communicating with the one or more other WECs or a security code for wirelessly communicating with the one or more other WECs.

14. The WEC of claim 10 , wherein the downloaded linking resource further identifies a type of link between the WEC and the one or more other WECs.

15. The WEC of claim 14 , wherein the downloaded linking resource updates an operating system or a program code of the WEC.

16. A system, comprising:

a server; and

a plurality of wireless-enabled component (WECs), each of the plurality of WECs being configured for wireless communication with the server and one or more other WECs, wherein each of the plurality of WECs includes a functional resource, wherein the functional resource includes a memory resource or a processing resource, and wherein a first WEC of the plurality of WECs is configured to:

search an environment for the one or more other WECs using a predetermined search algorithm;

wirelessly upload, to the server, an availability of the functional resource of the first WEC, and

wirelessly download, from the server, a linking resource for linking with the one or more other WECs, wherein the linking resource identifies the one or more other WECs and associated capabilities of the one or more other WECs.

17. The system of claim 16 , wherein the server comprises one of the plurality of WECs.

18. The system of claim 16 , wherein the plurality of WECs is located on a single chip.

19. The system of claim 16 , wherein a first subset of the plurality of WECs is located on a first chip and a second subset of the plurality of WECs is located on a second chip.

20. The system of claim 19 , wherein the first chip and the second chip are located within a common device.

21. The method of claim 1 , wherein the WEC is further configured to store information about past communications with the one or more other WECs.

22. The WEC of claim 10 , wherein the WEC is further configured to store information about past communications with the one or more other WECs.

23. The system of claim 16 , wherein the first WEC is further configured to store information about past communications with the one or more other WECs.
