Abstract

A mould for moulding a wind turbine blade includes a mould inside surface suitable for receiving a film. The film includes a film outside surface for lining the mould and a film inside surface for receiving a wind turbine blade component layer prior to a curing of the wind turbine blade component layer. The film inside surface and the film surface are realised to allow a complete detachment of the wind turbine blade from the mould after the curing of the wind turbine blade. The mould also includes a vacuum extraction outlet for applying a vacuum to extract air from between the film and the mould inside surface.

Claims (19)

1 . A mould for moulding a wind turbine blade; comprising:

a mould inside surface suitable for receiving a film, the film comprising:

a film outside surface for lining the mould; and

a film inside surface for receiving a wind turbine blade component layer prior to a curing of the wind turbine blade component layer,

wherein the film inside surface and the film surface are realised to allow a complete detachment of the wind turbine blade from the mould after the curing of the wind turbine blade; and

a vacuum extraction outlet for applying a vacuum to extract air from between the film and the mould inside surface.

2 . The mould according to claim 1 , wherein mould inside surface comprises at least one channel to facilitate the removal of air by vacuum extraction from between the film and the inside surface of the mould.

3 . The mould according to claim 1 , wherein the film outside surface comprises a relief structure.

4 . The mould according to claim 3 , wherein the relief structure comprises channels or grooves.

5 . The mould according to claim 1 , wherein the mould inside surface comprises a non-stick lining.

6 . The mould according to claim 1 , wherein the mould is a closed mould.

7 . A film suitable for use in a wind turbine blade moulding process;

comprising an outside surface for lining a mould; and

an inside surface for receiving a wind turbine blade component layer prior to a curing of the wind turbine blade component layer,

wherein the inside and outside surfaces of the film are realised to allow a complete detachment of the wind turbine blade from the mould after the curing of the wind turbine blade component layer.

8 . The film according to claim 7 , wherein the outside surface of the film comprises a relief structure.

9 . The film according to claim 8 , wherein the relief structure on the outside surface of the film comprises a plurality of channels or grooves.

10 . The film according to claim 7 , wherein the film comprises one or more polymers from the group consisting of polyethylene and polypropylene.

11 . The film according to claim 7 , wherein the film has a thickness in the range 20 μm to 200 μm.
