Abstract

A method for interfacing with a cognitive inference and learning system comprising: processing data from a plurality of data sources to provide cognitively processed insights via a cognitive inference and learning system, the cognitive inference and learning system further comprising performing a learning operation to iteratively improve the cognitively processed insights over time; receiving the data from the plurality of data sources to the cognitive interface and learning system via a first interface, and, providing the cognitively processed insights to a destination via a second interface.

Claims (31)

1. A method for interfacing with a cognitive inference and learning system within a cognitive information processing system environment, the cognitive information processing system environment comprising a plurality of data sources, a cognitive inference and learning system and a cognitive application, the method comprising:

processing data from the plurality of data sources to provide cognitively processed insights via the cognitive inference and learning system, the plurality of data sources comprising a social data source stored in a social data repository, a public data source stored in a public data repository, a licensed data source stored in a licensed data repository and a private data source stored in a private data repository, the cognitive inference and learning system executing on an information processing system, the cognitive inference and learning system and the information processing system providing a cognitive computing function, the cognitive inference and learning system comprising a cognitive platform, the cognitive platform comprising a sourcing agent and a destination agent, the cognitive inference and learning system further comprising performing a learning operation to iteratively improve the cognitively processed insights over time;

receiving the data from the plurality of data sources to the cognitive interface and learning system via a first interface, the first interface comprising a sourcing agent application program interface (API), the sourcing agent API being implemented to enable the sourcing agent to source a variety of multi-site, multi-structured source data streams, the sourcing agent comprising a sourcing agent API connectors agent, the sourcing agent API connectors agent being implemented to manage interactions with APIs that are external to the cognitive platform; and,

providing the cognitively processed insights to a destination as a stream of visualized insights via a second interface, the second interface comprising a destination agent application program interface (API), the destination agent application program interface being implemented to enable a destination agent to publish the cognitively processed insights to a consumer of cognitive insight data, the destination agent comprising a destination agent API connectors agent, the destination agent API connectors agent being implemented to manage interactions with APIs that are external to the cognitive platform, the destination comprising a cognitive application, the cognitive application enabling a user to interact with the cognitively processed insights.

2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

interacting with at least one cognitive application via a third interface, the third interface comprising a cognitive applications application program interface (API).

3. The method of claim 2 , wherein:

the third interface comprises a project and dataset agent application program interface (API), the project and dataset agent application program interface (API) enabling management of data and metadata associated with a cognitive insight project and a user account.

4. The method of claim 2 , wherein:

the third interface comprises a cognitive search API, the cognitive search API uses natural language processes to access predetermined outputs from a cognitive graph.

5. The method of claim 2 , wherein:

the third interface comprises a cognitive insight API, the cognitive insight API enabling configuration of an insight/learning operation.

6. A method for interfacing with a cognitive inference and learning system comprising:

receiving data from the plurality of data sources to the cognitive interface and learning system via a first interface, the plurality of data sources comprising a social data source stored in a social data repository, a public data source stored in a public data repository, a licensed data source stored in a licensed data repository and a private data source stored in a private data repository, the first interface comprising a sourcing agent application program interface (API);

processing data from a plurality of data sources to provide cognitively processed insights via a cognitive inference and learning system, the cognitive inference and learning system executing on an information processing system, the cognitive inference and learning system and the information processing system providing a cognitive computing function, the cognitive inference and learning system comprising a cognitive platform, the cognitive platform comprising

a cognitive engine,

a plurality of sourcing agents, the plurality of sourcing agents sourcing a variety of multi-site, multi-structured data streams, the plurality of sourcing agents being coupled to the cognitive engine;

a plurality of destination agents, the plurality of destination agents publishing the cognitively processed insights to a consumer of cognitive insight data, the plurality of destination agents being coupled to the cognitive engine;

the sourcing agent API, the sourcing agent API being implemented to enable the plurality of sourcing agents to source the variety of multi-site, multi-structured source data streams, the sourcing agent comprising a sourcing agent API connectors agent, the sourcing agent API connectors agent being implemented to manage interactions with APIs that are external to the cognitive platform; and,

a destination agent API, the destination agent API being implemented to enable a destination agent to publish the cognitively processed insights to a consumer of cognitive insight data, the destination agent comprising a destination agent API connectors agent, the destination agent API connectors agent being implemented to manage interactions with APIs that are external to the cognitive platform;

performing, via the cognitive inference and learning system, a learning operation to iteratively improve the cognitively processed insights over time; and,

providing the cognitively processed insights to a destination as a stream of visualized insights via a second interface, the second interface comprising the destination agent application program interface (API), the destination comprising a cognitive application, the cognitive application enabling a user to interact with the cognitively processed insights.

7. The method of claim 6 , further comprising:

interacting with at least one cognitive application via a third interface, the third interface comprising a cognitive applications application program interface (API); and wherein

the cognitive platform comprises the third interface.

8. The method of claim 7 , wherein:

the third interface comprises a project and dataset agent application program interface (API), the project and dataset agent application program interface (API) enabling management of data and metadata associated with a cognitive insight project and a user account.

9. The method of claim 7 , wherein:

the third interface comprises a cognitive search API, the cognitive search API uses natural language processes to access predetermined outputs from a cognitive graph.

10. The method of claim 7 , wherein:

the third interface comprises a cognitive insight API, the cognitive insight API enabling configuration of an insight/learning operation.
