Abstract

A number of patient beds are disclosed. Various caregiver control panels and patient control panels for controlling features and functions of a patient bed are also disclosed. For example, a cart with caregiver control inputs, including hand inputs on a graphical user interface (GUI) and foot inputs, is disclosed. Patient positioning and transfer devices are also disclosed. Various types of in-bed physical therapy devices are also disclosed.

Claims (30)

1. A bed control cart for controlling features of a patient bed, the bed control cart comprising

a wheeled base with foot inputs,

a support extending upwardly from the wheeled base,

a GUI supported by the support, the GUI displaying hand inputs, and

circuitry configured to send wireless signals to control the features of the bed in response to use of each of the foot inputs and hand inputs of the bed control cart.

2. The bed control cart of claim 1 , wherein the foot inputs control raising and lowering of an upper frame of the patient bed relative to a base of the patient bed.

3. The bed control cart of claim 2 , wherein the foot inputs control tilting of the upper frame of the patient bed between Trendelenburg and reverse Trendelenburg positions.

4. The bed control cart of claim 1 , wherein the wheeled base includes a set of casters.

5. The bed control cart of claim 1 , wherein the support comprises a pole.

6. The bed control cart of claim 5 , wherein the GUI is mounted to an upper end of the pole.

7. The bed control cart of claim 6 , further comprising a tray mounted to the pole beneath the GUI.

8. The bed control cart of claim 1 , wherein the hand inputs control motors that move mattress support deck sections of the patient bed.

9. The bed control cart of claim 1 , wherein the hand inputs control a pneumatic system that inflates and deflates portions of a mattress of the patient bed.

10. The bed control cart of claim 1 , wherein the hand inputs control a mattress therapy function of a mattress of the patient bed.

11. The bed control cart of claim 1 , wherein the mattress therapy functions comprises one or more of the following: a rotation therapy, an alternating pressure therapy, a percussion therapy, a vibration therapy, and a low airloss therapy.

12. The bed control cart of claim 1 , wherein the hand inputs control a turn assist function of the patient bed.

13. The bed control cart of claim 1 , wherein the hand inputs control a scale system of the bed.

14. The bed control cart of claim 1 , wherein the circuitry is configured to receive wireless communications from the patient bed.

15. The bed control cart of claim 14 , wherein the wireless communications from the patient bed comprises information relating to one or more alarms occurring on the patient bed.

16. The bed control cart of claim 15 , wherein the GUI displays information pertaining to the one or more alarms.

17. The bed control cart of claim 14 , wherein the wireless communications from the patient bed comprises information relating to a patient weight as measure by a scale system of the patient bed.

18. The bed control cart of claim 14 , wherein the wireless communications from the patient bed comprises information received by the patient bed from a network of a healthcare facility.

19. The bed control cart of claim 1 , wherein the hand inputs are usable to lockout functions of the patient bed from being controlled by user inputs on the patient bed.

20. The bed control cart of claim 1 , wherein each of the hand controls and foot controls is able to be locked out from use by user inputs on the patient bed.

21. The bed control cart of claim 1 , wherein the circuitry is configured to send wireless signals to control features of at least one other piece of healthcare equipment in response to use of any one or more of the foot inputs and the hand inputs.

22. The bed control cart of claim 1 , wherein the circuitry communicatively pairs with bed circuitry of the bed after the bed control cart is brought into a patient room in which the patient bed is located.

23. The bed control cart of claim 22 , wherein the circuitry communicatively pairs with bed circuitry of other patient beds in other patient rooms after the bed control cart is brought into respective rooms of the other patient beds.

24. The bed control cart of claim 22 , wherein at least one user input selection on the hand controls of the GUI is a prerequisite to the communicative pairing between the circuitry and the bed circuitry.

25. The bed control cart of claim 22 , wherein at least one user input selection on the foot controls is a prerequisite to the communicative pairing between the circuitry and the bed circuitry.

26. The bed control cart of claim 22 , wherein at least one user input selection on at least one user input of the patient bed is a prerequisite to the communicative pairing between the circuitry and the bed circuitry.
