Abstract

Systems and methods are provided to specify a location of a planned event via a selection of a listing that has location information. For example, in response to a search request a listing may show a business entity at a geographic location; and the user may select the listing as a way to specify the location of a new event or an existing event. In some embodiments, one event can have multiple listings specifying multiple locations.

Claims (73)

1. A method comprising:

ranking by a server system a set of listings stored in the data store of the server system based at least in part on respective point scores of each listing in the set of listings, wherein (a) the respective point score of each listing is based at least in part on (i) statistics of user interactions associated with the listing, and (ii) a type of end-user device used by an end user to interact with the listing, and (b) the type of end-user device is one of a plurality of different types of end-user devices, with each of the plurality of different types of end-user devices each having different capabilities;

selecting by the server system at least one listing from the set of listings based at least in part on the ranking, wherein a location is associated with the at least one listing, and the at least one listing is selected based at least in part on a relation between the location and a first location, wherein the first location is selected from the group consisting of a location specified by the end user, a location associated with the end user, and a location associated with the end-user device;

transmitting by the server system listing content via a network to facilitate presentation of the listing content via the end-user device, the listing content comprising information corresponding to the at least one listing;

processing a first set of one or more transmissions received via the network by the server system, the first set of one or more transmissions corresponding to a first set of one or more user selections of the at least one listing, wherein the at least one listing is selected by the server system from the set of listings based at least in part on the ranking; and

responsive to the first set of one or more user selections of the at least one listing, adding, by the server system, to a plan a reference to the at least one listing and associating in the plan a time period with the location.

2. The method of claim 1 further comprising:

transmitting by the server system first listing content via the network to facilitate presentation of the first listing content via the end-user device, the first listing content comprising first location corresponding to a first listing stored in the data store of the server system, wherein the first location is associated with the first listing;

processing a second set of one or more transmissions received via the network by the server system, the second set of one or more transmissions corresponding to a second set of one or more user selections; and

responsive to the second set of one or more user selections, adding by the server system to the plan a first reference to the first listing and associating in the plan a first time period with the first location, the first time period being adjacent in time to the time period.

3. The method of claim 2 , wherein the adding the first reference to the first listing and the associating in the plan the first time period with the first location is performed prior to the selecting the at least one listing from the set of listings based at least in part on the ranking.

4. The method of claim 2 , further comprising:

accessing by the server system the data store to identify the first listing stored in the data store, wherein the first listing corresponds to a bookmarked listing previously associated with the end-user.

5. The method of claim 2 , wherein at least one of the listing or the first listing is identified responsive to one or more search requests received from the end-user device.

6. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

causing by the server system one or more calendar records of the plan to be stored in at least one of the data store or the end-user device.

7. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

tracking by the server system a first type of user interactions with the set of listings;

tracking by the server system a second type of user interactions with the set of listings, wherein the server system differentiates between the first type of user interactions and the second type of user interactions based at least in part on attributes associated with at least one of different end user or different end-user device;

identifying by the server system an attribute of at least one of the end user or the end-user device; and

associating by the server system at least one of the end user or the end-user device with the first type of user interactions or the second type of user interactions based at least in part on the identified attribute;

wherein the ranking the set of listings is based at least in part on the associating at least one of the end user or the end-user device with the first type of user interactions or the second type of user interactions.

8. One or more non-transitory, processor-readable media storing instructions that, when executed by a server system, cause the server system to:

rank a set of listings stored in a data store of the server system based at least in part on respective point scores of each listing in the set of listings, wherein (a) the respective point score of each listing is based at least in part on (i) statistics of user interactions associated with the listing, and (ii) type of end-user device used by an end user to interact with the listing, and (b) the type of end-user device is one of a plurality of different types of end-user devices, with each of the plurality of different types of end-user devices each having different capabilities;

select at least one listing from the set of listings based at least in part on the ranking, wherein a location is associated with the at least one listing, and the at least one listing is selected based at least in part on a relation between the location and a first location, wherein the first location is selected from the group consisting of a location specified by the end user, a location associated with the end user, and a location associated with the end-user device;

transmit listing content via a network to facilitate presentation of the listing content via the end-user device, the listing content comprising information corresponding to the at least one listing;

process a first set of one or more transmissions received via the network by the server system, the first set of one or more transmissions corresponding to a first set of one or more user selections of the at least one listing, wherein the at least one listing is selected by the server system from the set of listings based at least in part on the ranking; and

responsive to the first set of one or more user selections of the at least one listing, add to a plan a reference to the at least one listing and associating in the plan a time period with the location.

9. The one or more non-transitory, processor-readable media of claim 8 , wherein the instructions, when executed, further cause the server system to:

transmit first listing content via the network to facilitate presentation of the first listing content via the end-user device, the first listing content comprising first location corresponding to a first listing stored in the data store of the server system, wherein the first location is associated with the first listing;

process a second set of one or more transmissions received via the network by the server system, the second set of one or more transmissions corresponding to a second set of one or more user selections; and

responsive to the second set of one or more user selections, add to the plan a first reference to the first listing and associating in the plan a first time period with the first location, the first time period being adjacent in time to the time period.

The one or more non-transitory, processor-readable media of claim 9 , wherein the adding the first reference to the first listing and the associating in the plan the first time period with the first location is performed prior to the selecting the at least one listing from the set of listings based at least in part on the ranking.

11. The one or more non-transitory, processor-readable media of claim 9 , wherein the instructions, when executed, further cause the server system to:

access the data store to identify the first listing stored in the data store, wherein the first listing corresponds to a bookmarked listing previously associated with the end-user.

12. The one or more non-transitory, processor-readable media of claim 9 , wherein at least one of the listing or the first listing is identified responsive to one or more search requests received from the end-user device.

13. The one or more non-transitory, processor-readable media of claim 8 , wherein the instructions, when executed, further cause the server system to:

cause one or more calendar records of the plan to be stored in at least one of the data store or the end-user device.

14. The one or more non-transitory, processor-readable media of claim 8 , wherein the instructions, when executed, further cause the server system to:

track a first type of user interactions with the set of listings;

track a second type of user interactions with the set of listings, wherein the server system differentiates between the first type of user interactions and the second type of user interactions based at least in part on attributes associated with at least one of different end user or different end-user device;

identify an attribute of at least one of the end user or the end-user device; and

associate at least one of the end user or the end-user device with the first type of user interactions or the second type of user interactions based at least in part on the identified attribute;

wherein the ranking the set of listings is based at least in part on the associating at least one of the end user or the end-user device with the first type of user interactions or the second type of user interactions.

15. A system comprising:

a server system comprising one or more processors communicatively coupled to a data store, the server system further comprising the one or more processors coupled to one or more memories storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the server system to:

rank a set of listings based at least in part on respective point scores of each listing in the set of listings, wherein (a) the respective point score of each listing is based at least in part on (i) statistics of user interactions associated with the listing, and (ii) a type of end-user device used by an end user to interact with the listing, and (b) the type of end-user device is one of a plurality of different types of end-user devices, with each of the plurality of different types of end-user devices each having different capabilities;

select at least one listing from the set of listings based at least in part on the ranking, wherein a location is associated with the at least one listing, and the at least one listing is selected based at least in part on a relation between the location and a first location, wherein the first location is selected from the group consisting of a location specified by the end user, a location associated with the end user, and a location associated with the end-user device;

transmit listing content via a network to facilitate presentation of the listing content via the end-user device, the listing content comprising information corresponding to the at least one listing stored in the data store of the server system;

process a first set of one or more transmissions received via the network by the server system, the first set of one or more transmissions corresponding to a first set of one or more user selections of the at least one listing, wherein the at least one listing is selected by the server system from the set of listings based at least in part on the ranking; and

responsive to the first set of one or more user selections of the at least one listing, add to a plan a reference to the at least one listing and associating in the plan a time period with the location.

16. The system of claim 15 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, further cause the server system to:

transmit first listing content via the network to facilitate presentation of the first listing content via the end-user device, the first listing content comprising first location corresponding to a first listing stored in the data store of the server system, wherein the first location is associated with the first listing;

process a second set of one or more transmissions received via the network by the server system, the second set of one or more transmissions corresponding to a second set of one or more user selections; and

responsive to the second set of one or more user selections, add to the plan a first reference to the first listing and associating in the plan a first time period with the first location, the first time period being adjacent in time to the time period.

17. The system of claim 16 , wherein the adding the first reference to the first listing and the associating in the plan the first time period with the first location is performed prior to the selecting the at least one listing from the set of listings based at least in part on the ranking.

18. The system of claim 16 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, further cause the server system to:

access the data store to identify the first listing stored in the data store, wherein the first listing corresponds to a bookmarked listing previously associated with the end-user.

19. The system of claim 15 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, further cause the server system to:

cause one or more calendar records of the plan to be stored in at least one of the data store or the end-user device.

20. The system of claim 15 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, further cause the server system to:

track a first type of user interactions with the set of listings;

track a second type of user interactions with the set of listings, wherein the server system differentiates between the first type of user interactions and the second type of user interactions based at least in part on attributes associated with at least one of different end user or different end-user device;

identify an attribute of at least one of the end user or the end-user device; and

associate at least one of the end user or the end-user device with the first type of user interactions or the second type of user interactions based at least in part on the identified attribute;

wherein the ranking the set of listings is based at least in part on the associating at least one of the end user or the end-user device with the first type of user interactions or the second type of user interactions.

21. The method of claim 1 further comprising:

determining a first identity of a first user associated with a first user interaction with a listing;

determining at least one of a date of the first user interaction with the listing, or a time of the first user interaction with the listing;

determining a second identity of a second user associated with a second user interaction with the listing;

determining at least one of a date of the second user interaction with the listing, or a time of the second user interaction with the listing;

wherein the respective point score for each listing is based at least in part on (a) the date of the first user interaction with the listing or the time of the first user interaction with the listing, and (b) the date of the second user interaction with the listing or the time of the second user interaction with the listing; and

in response to determining that the first identity of a first user and the second identity of a second user are both the end user, decreasing the contribution of at least one of the first user interaction or the second user interaction to the respective point score of the listing when (i) the date of the first user interaction with the listing and the date of the second user interaction with the listing, or (ii) the time of the first user interaction with the listing and the time of the second user interaction with the listing are within a predetermined time period.
