METHODS OF TREATING DIABETES BY ADMINISTERING A GLUCAGON RECEPTOR ANTAGONIST IN COMBINATION WITH A CHOLESTEROL ABSORPTION INHIBITOR
Use of a glucagon receptor antagonist in combination with a cholesterol absorption inhibitor for the treatment of diabetes and related conditions is disclosed.
1 . A method of treating diabetes in a mammalian subject which comprises administering to said mammalian subject:
(a) a glucagon receptor antagonist, and
(b) a cholesterol absorption inhibitor;
wherein the mammalian subject has an LDL cholesterol plasma level of less than 130 mg/dL.
2 . A method of reducing hyperglycemia in a mammalian subject which comprises administering to said mammalian subject:
(a) a glucagon receptor antagonist, and
(b) a cholesterol absorption inhibitor;
wherein the mammalian subject has an LDL cholesterol plasma level of less than 130 mg/dL.
3 . The method of claim 1 wherein the subject has an LDL cholesterol plasma level of less than 100 mg/dL.
4 . The method of claim 1 wherein the glucagon receptor antagonist compound and the cholesterol absorption inhibitor compound are present in a single dosage form.
5 . The method of claim 4 wherein the glucagon receptor antagonist compound and the cholesterol absorption inhibitor compound are in a bilayer tablet.
6 . The method of claim 1 wherein the glucagon receptor antagonist compound and the cholesterol absorption inhibitor compound are present each in a separate dosage form for simultaneous or sequential administration.
7 . The method of claim 1 for treating type 2 diabetes.
