Abstract

One or more methods and/or techniques for providing a personalized future event notification to a user are provided herein. A content item (e.g., a news article, a social network post, etc.) may be evaluated utilizing a future event detection model to identify a future event (e.g., a festival). The future event detection model may have been trained to identify future events based upon part of speech analysis and entity recognition analysis of text within content items. In an example, the future event detection model may be used to identify locational features, temporal features, and/or entities from the content item. A user having a user interest in the future event above an interest threshold may be identified based upon user identifying information (e.g., a social network profile) being indicative of user interest in the future event. A personalized future event notification of the future event may be provided to the user.

Claims (60)

1. A method for providing a personalized future event notification, comprising:

evaluating a first content item utilizing a future event detection model to identify a first future event, the future event detection model trained to identify future events based upon part of speech analysis and entity recognition analysis of text within the first content item; and

for the first future event:

comparing a first event feature of the first future event to user identifying information, stored in a database, of each user of a plurality of users;

identifying a first user, from among the plurality of users, having a predicted user interest in the first future event above an interest threshold based upon a comparison of the first event feature to user identifying information of the first user; and

providing a personalized future event notification for the first future event to the first user.

2. The method of claim 1 , the providing comprising:

constructing a push notification, identifying the first future event, as the personalized future event notification; and

providing the push notification to a client device associated with the first user for display as a device alert notification.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein:

the evaluating comprises evaluating a plurality of content items, including the first content item, to identify a set of future events, including the first future event, from the plurality of content items,

the method comprises:

for each future event of the set of future events, predicting a user interest in the future event based upon a comparison of an event feature of the future event to user identifying information of the first user to generate a predicted user interest in the future event; and

ranking the set of future events based upon the predicted user interest in each future event of the set of future events to create a ranked set of future events for the first user, and

the providing a personalized future event notification comprises providing the ranked set of future events to the first user.

4. The method of claim 1 , the first content item comprising at least one of:

a news article, a blog post, news feed content, a social network post, website content, application user interface data, an email message, an instant message, a forum message, a social media message, an in-app message, a video message, a text message, or an audio message.

5. The method of claim 1 , the providing a personalized future event notification comprising:

providing a calendar creation option to the first user; and

responsive to the first user selecting the calendar creation option, creating a calendar entry, for the first future event, within a calendar associated with the first user.

6. The method of claim 1 , comprising:

receiving feedback from the first user regarding the personalized future event notification; and

responsive to the feedback indicating that the first future event is an invalid future event, training the future event detection model based upon the feedback.

7. The method of claim 1 , comprising:

receiving feedback from the first user regarding the personalized future event notification; and

responsive to the feedback indicating that the first future event is at least one of an interesting future event or a valid future event, training the future event detection model based upon the feedback.

8. The method of claim 1 , the personalized future event notification comprising a link to access at least one of a user review associated with the first future event, a video associated with the first future event, or an application associated with the first future event and downloadable to a client device associated with the first user.

9. The method of claim 1 , comprising:

providing for display on a client device associated with the first user a copy user interface element used to copy the personalized future event notification for pasting.

10. The method of claim 1 , comprising:

providing for display on a client device associated with the first user a share interface element used to share the personalized future event notification with a second user.

11. The method of claim 1 , comprising:

providing for display on a client device associated with the first user a save interface element used to save the personalized future event notification as at least one of a file, a bookmark, a task item, an email, a calendar entry, or a reminder notification.

12. A system, comprising:

a processor; and

memory comprising processor-executable instructions that when executed by the processor cause the processor to perform operations for providing a personalized future event notification, the operations comprising:

evaluating text of a first content item to identify a first future event; and

for the first future event:

comparing a first event feature of the first future event to user identifying information, stored in a database, of each user of a plurality of users;

identifying a first user, from among the plurality of users, having a predicted user interest in the first future event above an interest threshold based upon a comparison of the first event feature to user identifying information of the first user; and

providing a personalized future event notification for the first future event to the first user.

13. The system of claim 12 , the providing comprising:

constructing a push notification, identifying the first future event, as the personalized future event notification; and

providing the push notification to a client device associated with the first user for display as a device alert notification.

14. The system of claim 12 , wherein:

the evaluating comprises evaluating the text of the first content item utilizing a future event detection model, and

the operations comprise:

receiving feedback from the first user in response to the providing the personalized future event notification, the feedback indicating that the first future event is invalid; and

responsive to the feedback indicating that the first future event is an invalid future event, updating the future event detection model.

15. The system of claim 12 , wherein the user identifying information of the first user comprises a social network profile of the first user.

16. The system of claim 12 , wherein the personalized future event notification comprising a link to access an application associated with the first future event and downloadable to a client device associated with the first user.

17. The system of claim 12 , wherein the user identifying information of the first user comprises a webpage visit history of the first user.

18. A non-transitory computer readable storage medium comprising processor-executable instructions that when executed by a processor perform a method for providing a personalized future event notification, the method comprising:
