Abstract

A system, method, and device for operations of an electrically motorized vehicle. The vehicle can utilize an electrically motorized wheel to convert a non-motorized wheeled vehicle to an electrically motorized wheeled vehicle. A method of controlling the device of the electrically motorized wheel includes detecting a temperature of an electric motor of the electrically motorized wheel and controlling operation of the electric motor to maintain the detected temperature within a desired range.

Claims (18)

1. A method of controlling a motorized human-powered vehicle, the method comprising:

detecting a temperature of a drive motor operable to propel the motorized human-powered vehicle, a battery system, or an electronic board within the motorized human-powered vehicle; and

controlling, using a control unit of the motorized human-powered vehicle, a power output from the battery system to the drive motor to maintain the detected temperature below a respective predetermined maximum operational temperature limit for the drive motor, the battery system, or the electronic board within the motorized human-powered vehicle.

2. The method as recited in claim 1 , wherein the motorized human-powered vehicle is a bicycle and controlling the power output from the battery system to the drive motor includes controlling assistance to a pedaling input transmitted to the motorized human-powered vehicle.

3. The method as recited in claim 1 , wherein the motorized human-powered vehicle is a bicycle and controlling the power output from the battery system to the drive motor includes controlling resistance to a pedaling input transmitted to the motorized human-powered vehicle.

4. The method as recited in claim 1 , wherein the motorized human-powered vehicle is a bicycle and controlling the power output from the battery system to the drive motor includes at least one of reducing and stopping assistance to a pedaling input transmitted to the motorized human-powered vehicle in response to the detected temperature of the drive motor, the battery system, or the electronic board being above the respective predetermined maximum operational temperature limit.

5. The method as recited in claim 1 , wherein controlling the power output from the battery system to the drive motor includes at least one of reducing and stopping assistance or resistance to a user input transmitted to the motorized human-powered vehicle in response to the detected temperature of the drive motor, the battery system, or the electronic board being above the respective predetermined maximum operational temperature limit.

6. The method as recited in claim 1 , wherein controlling the power output from the battery system to the drive motor includes controlling the drive motor to provide assistance to a user input transmitted to the motorized human-powered vehicle.

7. The method as recited in claim 1 , wherein controlling the power output from the battery system to the drive motor includes controlling the drive motor to provide resistance to a user input transmitted to the motorized human-powered vehicle.

8. A system for controlling a motorized human-powered vehicle, the system comprising:

a sensor system operable to detect a temperature of a drive motor operable to propel the motorized human-powered vehicle, a battery system, or an electronic board within the motorized human-powered vehicle; and

a control system in communication with the sensor system, the control system operable to control a power output from the battery system to the drive motor of the motorized human-powered vehicle to maintain the detected temperature below a respective predetermined maximum operational temperature limit for the drive motor, the battery system, or the electronic board within the motorized human-powered vehicle.

9. The system as recited in claim 8 , wherein the motorized human-powered vehicle is a bicycle and the control system is configured to control assistance to a pedaling input transmitted to the motorized human-powered vehicle.

10. The system as recited in claim 8 , wherein the motorized human-powered vehicle is a bicycle and the control system is configured to control resistance to a pedaling input transmitted to the motorized human-powered vehicle.

11. The system as recited in claim 8 , wherein the motorized human-powered vehicle is a bicycle and the control system is configured to reduce or stop assistance to a pedaling input transmitted to the motorized human-powered vehicle in response to the detected temperature of the drive motor, the battery system, or the electronic board being above the respective predetermined maximum operational temperature limit.

12. The system as recited in claim 8 , wherein the control system is configured to reduce or stop assistance or resistance to a user input transmitted to the motorized human-powered vehicle in response to the detected temperature of the drive motor, the battery system, or the electronic board being above the respective predetermined maximum operational temperature limit.

13. The system as recited in claim 8 , wherein the control system is configured to control the drive motor to provide assistance to a user input transmitted to the motorized human-powered vehicle.

14. The system as recited in claim 8 , wherein the control system is configured to control the drive motor to provide resistance to a user input transmitted to the motorized human-powered vehicle.
