METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR PROVIDING RECOMMENDATIONS TO A USER OF A CLOUD COMPUTING SERVICE
A method and apparatus is disclosed for transferring digital content from a computing cloud to a computing device and generating recommendations for the user of the computing device.
1 . A mobile device for downloading content of a user that has been uploaded to a user-associated content store of a server, the mobile device comprising:
a processor;
a memory; and
a display,
wherein the processor is configured to control the display to present a content list relating to one or more contents stored in the memory and one or more user-uploaded content stored in the user-associated content store of the server, and
wherein the processor is configured to, in response to a user input, control to request a user-uploaded content stored in the user-associated content store of the server, and to control to download and store the requested user-uploaded content to the memory.
2 . The mobile device of claim 1 , wherein the presented content list distinguishes the one or more contents stored in the memory from user-uploaded contents stored in the user-associated content store of the server and not stored in the memory.
3 . The mobile device of claim 1 , wherein the one or more user-uploaded contents stored in the user-associated content store of the server comprises content uploaded from the mobile device.
4 . The mobile device of claim 1 , wherein the one or more user-uploaded contents stored in the user-associated content store of the server comprises content uploaded from another device of the user.
5 . The mobile device of claim 4 , wherein at least one of the one or more user-uploaded contents stored in the user-associated content store of the server is automatically uploaded by synchronization between the server and the other device of the user.
6 . The mobile device of claim 1 , wherein the processor is configured to automatically request, according to a synchronization setting between the mobile device and the server, at least one user-uploaded content, among the one or more user-uploaded contents stored in the user-associated content store of the server.
7 . The mobile device of claim 6 , wherein the processor is configured to automatically request, according to the synchronization setting between the mobile device and the server, the at least one user-uploaded content only if the mobile device is plugged into an external power source.
8 . The mobile device of claim 6 , wherein the processor is configured to automatically request, according to the synchronization setting between the mobile device and the server, the at least one user-uploaded content based on a type of communication link between the mobile device and the server.
9 . The mobile device of claim 1 , wherein the processor is configured to automatically upload, according to a synchronization setting between the mobile device and the server, at least one content, among the one or more contents stored in the memory, to the server to be stored in the user-associated content store of the server.
10 . The mobile device of claim 9 , wherein the processor is configured to automatically upload, according to the synchronization setting between the mobile device and the server, the at least one content only if the mobile device is plugged into an external power source.
11 . The mobile device of claim 9 , wherein the processor is configured to automatically upload, according to the synchronization setting between the mobile device and the server, the at least one content based on a type of communication link between the mobile device and the server.
12 . The mobile device of claim 11 , wherein the processor is configured to automatically upload, according to the synchronization setting between the mobile device and the server, the at least one content only if the type of the communication link is a lowest cost network connecting the mobile device to the server.
13 . The mobile device of claim 11 , wherein the processor is configured to automatically upload, according to the synchronization setting between the mobile device and the server, the at least one content only if the type of the communication link is a Wi-Fi network connecting the mobile device to the server.
14 . The mobile device of claim 9 , wherein the automatically uploading according to the synchronization setting is performed as a background operation of the mobile device.
15 . A non-transitory computer-readable recording medium having recorded thereon a program executable by a computer for performing a method of operating a mobile device, the method comprising:
controlling a display of the mobile device to present a content list including one or more contents stored in the mobile device and one or more user-uploaded contents stored in a user-associated content store of a server; and
in response to a user input, controlling to request a user-uploaded content stored in the user-associated content store of the server, and to download and store the requested user-uploaded content in the mobile device.
16 . The non-transitory computer-readable recording medium of claim 15 , wherein the one or more user-uploaded contents stored in the user-associated content store of the server comprises content uploaded from the mobile device.
17 . The non-transitory computer-readable recording medium of claim 15 , wherein the one or more user-uploaded contents stored in the user-associated content store of the server comprises content uploaded from another device of the user.
18 . The non-transitory computer-readable recording medium of claim 17 , wherein at least one of the one or more user-uploaded contents stored in the user-associated content store of the server is automatically uploaded by synchronization between the server and the other device of the user.
19 . The non-transitory computer-readable recording medium of claim 15 , wherein the controlling to request comprises automatically requesting, according to a synchronization setting between the mobile device and the server, at least one user-uploaded content, among the one or more user-uploaded contents stored in the user-associated content store of the server.
20 . The non-transitory computer-readable recording medium of claim 19 , wherein the automatically requesting comprises automatically requesting, according to the synchronization setting between the mobile device and the server, the at least one user-uploaded content only if the mobile device is plugged into an external power source.
21 . The non-transitory computer-readable recording medium of claim 19 , wherein the automatically requesting comprises automatically requesting, according to the synchronization setting between the mobile device and the server, the at least one user-uploaded content based on a type of communication link between the mobile device and the server.
22 . The non-transitory computer-readable recording medium of claim 15 , further comprising automatically uploading, according to a synchronization setting between the mobile device and the server, at least one content, among the one or more contents stored in the mobile device, to the server to be stored in the user-associated content store of the server.

The non-transitory computer-readable recording medium of claim 22 , wherein the automatically uploading comprises automatically uploading, according to the synchronization setting between the mobile device and the server, the at least one content only if the mobile device is plugged into an external power source.
24 . The non-transitory computer-readable recording medium of claim 22 , wherein the automatically uploading comprises automatically uploading, according to the synchronization setting between the mobile device and the server, the at least one content based on a type of communication link between the mobile device and the server.

The non-transitory computer-readable recording medium of claim 24 , wherein the automatically uploading the content based on the type of communication link comprises automatically uploading, according to the synchronization setting between the mobile device and the server, the at least one content if the type of the communication link is a lowest cost network connecting the mobile device to the server.

The non-transitory computer-readable recording medium of claim 24 , wherein the automatically uploading the content based on the type of communication link comprises automatically uploading, according to the synchronization setting between the mobile device and the server, the at least one content if the type of the communication link is a Wi-Fi network connecting the mobile device to the server.
27 . The non-transitory computer-readable recording medium of claim 22 , wherein the automatically uploading according to the synchronization setting is performed as a background operation of the mobile device.
28 . The non-transitory computer-readable recording medium of claim 15 , wherein the presented content lists distinguishes the one or more contents stored in the mobile device from user-uploaded content stored in the user-associated content store of the server and not stored in the mobile device.
