Abstract

A map display device includes a position information acquiring unit for acquiring the present position of a vehicle; a map data storage unit for storing map data; a remaining energy acquiring unit for acquiring a residual quantity of energy for driving the vehicle and equipment mounted on the vehicle; a range calculating unit for computing a range the vehicle can travel with the remaining energy, using a moving energy consumption rate which is energy consumption per unit time required for moving the vehicle and a driving energy consumption rate Eci which is energy consumption per unit time required for driving the equipment mounted on the vehicle; and an output control unit for displaying the range on a map using the map data.

Claims (27)

1. An apparatus for outputting reachable distance comprising:

a processor to execute a program; and

a memory to store the program which, when executed by the processor, results in performance of steps comprising,

acquiring a residual quantity of energy for driving a mobile unit and equipment mounted on the mobile unit;

computing a reachable distance of the mobile unit with the residual energy acquired, using a moving energy consumption which is required for moving the mobile unit and a driving energy consumption which is required for driving the equipment whose energy consumption varies depending on user operation; and

outputting the reachable distance computed;

calculating a reachable point from the reachable distance according to a vehicle position and map data; and

computing a reachable range from the reachable point,

wherein the processor varies, when the equipment is operated, the reachable distance of the mobile unit computed in conformity with the operation, and performs display control of displaying the reachable range of the mobile unit on the map data.

2. The device according to claim 1 , wherein the map data contains information about a place where a facility for supplying energy to the mobile unit is located, and the steps further comprise:

giving a warning display by referring to the map data when a facility for supplying energy to the mobile unit does not exist within the reachable range computed again by user operation.

3. The device according to claim 1 , wherein the steps further comprise:

acquiring a present position of the mobile unit; and

computing a reachable range of the mobile unit, using the reachable distance,

displaying on a map the reachable range of the mobile unit, using the map data which contains information about parking permitted spots for the mobile unit, and

designating, when a spot at the reachable range of the mobile unit is a parking unpermitted spot for the mobile unit, a parking permitted spot for the mobile unit within the reachable range of the mobile unit as a new reachable range, by referring to the map data.

4. A method of outputting a reachable distance comprising:

acquiring a residual quantity of energy for driving a mobile unit and equipment mounted on the mobile unit;

computing a reachable distance of the mobile unit with the residual energy acquired, using a moving energy consumption rate which is required for moving the mobile unit and a driving energy consumption rate which is required for driving the equipment whose energy consumption varies depending on user operation; and

outputting the reachable distance computed;

calculating a reachable point from the reachable distance according to a vehicle position and map data;

computing a reachable range from the reachable point; and

varying, when the equipment is operated, the reachable distance of the mobile unit computed in conformity with the operation, and for performing display control of displaying the reachable range of the mobile unit on the map data.

5. The device according to claim 2 , wherein the steps further comprise:

performing display control of displaying as a recommended condition a setting of the equipment which corresponds to the reachable range that includes the facility for supplying energy to the mobile unit among reachable ranges of the mobile unit.

6. The device according to claim 5 , wherein the steps further comprise:

supplying the equipment with the recommended condition.
