Abstract

An electronic cigarette includes a shell and a mouthpiece. The external wall of the shell has an air inlet. An atomizer and a liquid-supply are in contact with each other. The air inlet, atomizer, and an aerosol passage are interconnected.

Claims (54)

1 . An electronic vaporizing device, comprising:

a housing having a longitudinal axis, a first end, and a second end;

a mouthpiece removably attached to the second end of the housing;

an outlet in the mouthpiece;

an air inlet for allowing air to flow into the housing;

a battery, an electronic circuit board, a porous component, and a liquid-supply holding a liquid within the housing;

a heating wire perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of the housing, with the heating wire within an atomization chamber having a cylindrical sidewall with one or more holes through the cylindrical sidewall;

an air stream passage from the inlet to the atomization chamber, with air passing over the heating wire in the atomization chamber and flowing to the outlet;

with the liquid in contact with the porous component for moving liquid from the liquid-supply to the porous component; and

wherein the liquid-supply is cylindrical and arranged parallel to the longitudinal axis of the housing.

2 . The device of claim 1 with the porous component comprising a fiber material.

3 . The device of claim 2 with at least one end of the porous component projecting into the liquid-supply.

4 . The device of claim 3 wherein the liquid is vaporized only via heating by the heating wire.

5 . The device of claim 1 wherein the liquid-supply is refillable by removing the mouthpiece from the second end of the housing.

6 . The device of claim 2 further including a manually operated switch electrically connected to the electronic circuit board.

7 . The device of claim 2 with the liquid-supply comprising propylene glycol.

8 . The device of claim 2 with the battery, the liquid-supply and the outlet in the mouthpiece co-axial with the longitudinal axis of the tubular housing.

9 . The device of claim 4 with the mouthpiece screwed onto the second end of the tubular housing.

10 . An electronic vaporizing device, comprising:

a hollow cylindrical housing having a longitudinal axis, a first end and a second end;

a cylindrical liquid supply bottle having a first end and a second end, with the second end of the cylindrical liquid supply bottle removably attached to the second end of the hollow cylindrical housing, and with the cylindrical liquid supply bottle centered on the longitudinal axis of the hollow cylindrical housing;

a mouthpiece on the first end of the liquid supply bottle;

an outlet in the mouthpiece;

a battery and an electronic circuit board within the hollow cylindrical housing;

a heating wire substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the hollow cylindrical housing, with the heating wire in a stream passage in the hollow cylindrical housing;

a porous component in physical contact with liquid within the liquid supply bottle, to provide for movement of liquid from the liquid supply bottle to the porous component; and

an air inlet for allowing air to flow into the cylindrical housing.

11 . The device of claim 10 with the porous component comprising a fiber material.

12 . The device of claim 11 with at least one end of the porous component projecting into the liquid-supply bottle.

13 . The device of claim 10 further including a manually operated switch electrically connected to the electronic circuit board.

14 . The device of claim 10 with the liquid-supply bottle holding a liquid comprising propylene glycol.

15 . The device of claim 10 with the battery, the liquid-supply bottle and the outlet in the mouthpiece co-axial with the longitudinal axis of the tubular housing.

16 . The device of claim 10 with the mouthpiece screwed onto the second end of the tubular housing, and with the liquid-supply bottle refillable by unscrewing the mouthpiece from the second end of the housing.

17 . An electronic vaporizing device, comprising:

a hollow cylindrical housing having a longitudinal axis, a first end and a second end;

a cylindrical liquid supply bottle having a first end and a second end, with the second end of the cylindrical liquid supply bottle removably attached to the second end of the hollow cylindrical housing, and with the cylindrical liquid supply bottle coaxial with the longitudinal axis of the hollow cylindrical housing;

a mouthpiece at a first end of the liquid supply bottle;

an outlet in the mouthpiece;

a battery and an electronic circuit board within the hollow cylindrical housing, with the battery, the liquid supply bottle and the outlet in the mouthpiece co-axial with the longitudinal axis of the hollow cylindrical housing;

a heating wire electrically connected to the battery and substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the hollow cylindrical housing, with the heating wire within an atomization chamber having a cylindrical sidewall with one or more holes through the cylindrical sidewall, and with the liquid-supply bottle between the mouthpiece and the heating wire;

a porous component projecting into and in physical contact with liquid within the liquid supply bottle, to provide for movement of liquid by capillary action from the liquid supply bottle to the porous component; and

an air inlet for allowing air to flow into the cylindrical housing.

18 . The device of claim 18 with the liquid supply bottle containing a liquid comprising propylene glycol.

19 . The device of claim 19 with the porous component comprising a fiber material.

20 . The device of claim 20 with the fiber material projecting into the liquid.

21 . An electronic vaporizing device, comprising:

a housing having a longitudinal axis, a first end, and a second end;

a mouthpiece removably attached to the second end of the housing;

an outlet in the mouthpiece;

an air inlet for allowing air to flow into the housing;

a battery, an electronic circuit board, a porous component, and a liquid-supply holding a liquid within the housing, with at least one end of the porous component projecting into the liquid-supply;

a heating wire perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of the housing, with the heating wire within an atomization chamber having a cylindrical sidewall with one or more holes through the cylindrical sidewall; and

an air stream passage from the inlet to the atomization chamber, with air passing over the heating wire in the atomization chamber and to the outlet, with liquid from the liquid-supply bottle in contact with the porous component for moving liquid from the liquid-supply to the porous component; and

wherein the liquid-supply is cylindrical and arranged parallel to the longitudinal axis of the housing.
