Abstract

A portable doorway recreation device for use on a doorway frame comprises an L-shaped frame. A first horizontal elongate bar is attached to a riser of the L-shaped frame and a second horizontal elongate bar is attached to a base of the L-shaped frame. A vise clamp is operatively associated with the second elongate bar, wherein with the first elongate bar sitting on a top of the doorway frame on a first wall side and the second elongate bar operatively associated with a second wall side, the vise clamp is configured to receive a portion of the first and second wall sides to prevent movement of the second elongate bar away from the second wall side.

Claims (31)

1. A portable doorway recreation device for use on a doorway frame comprising:

a pair of spaced L-shaped frames;

a first horizontal elongate bar attached between risers of the L-shaped frame;

a second horizontal elongate bar attached between the bases of the L-shaped frames;

a vise clamp operatively associated with the second elongate bar, wherein with the first elongate bar resting on top of the doorway frame on a first wall side and the second elongate bar operatively associated with a second wall side parallel to the first wall side, the vise clamp is configured to receive a portion of the first and second wall sides to prevent movement of the second elongate bar away from the second wall side, wherein the portion of the first wall side received by the vise clamp comprises a surface of door jamb of a door frame facing opposite the second wall side,

wherein the vise clamp comprises an L-shaped body, the bottom of the L-shaped body defining a fixed jaw; and

a movable jaw connected to the riser of the L-shaped body by at least one guide shaft extending from the movable jaw length-wise of the riser of the L-shaped body, the guide shaft being received in a length-wise hole in a riser of the L-shaped body and a threaded shaft extending from the movable jaw length-wise of the riser of the L-shaped body threadably received in a length-wise hole in the riser of the L-shaped body spaced from the hole of the at least one guide shaft.

2. The portable doorway recreation device of claim 1 further comprising a nut within the length-wise hole threadably receiving the threaded shaft.

3. The portable doorway recreation device of claim 1 wherein a distal end of the fixed jaw extends a first distance from the riser of the L-shaped body and the movable jaw extends a second distance from the riser of the L-shaped body, the first distance being greater than the second distance.

4. The portable doorway recreation device of claim 1 further comprising padding on opposing surfaces of the fixed and the movable jaws.

5. The portable doorway recreation device of claim 4 further comprising padding on a surface of the riser of the L-shaped body between the fixed and movable jaws.

6. A portable doorway recreation device for use on a doorway frame comprising:

a pair of spaced L-shaped frames;

a first horizontal elongate bar attached between risers of the L-shaped frame;

a second horizontal elongate bar attached between the bases of the L-shaped frames;

a vise clamp operatively associated with the second elongate bar, wherein with the first elongate bar resting on top of the doorway frame on a first wall side and the second elongate bar operatively associated with a second wall side parallel to the first wall side, the vise clamp is configured to receive a portion of the first and second wall sides to prevent movement of the second elongate bar away from the second wall side, wherein the portion of the first wall side received by the vise clamp comprises a surface of door jamb of a door facing opposite the second wall side; and

a support between each of the L-shaped frames and the second elongate horizontal bar, the each support comprising a body defining a socket receiving the L-shaped frame and a groove perpendicular to the socket receiving the second elongate horizontal bar.

7. The portable doorway recreation device of claim 6 wherein the support further comprises a rod extending parallel to an axis of the socket spanning a gap in the body opposite the groove.

8. The portable doorway recreation device of claim 7 , wherein the rod is removably attached to the body.

9. The portable doorway recreation device of claim 6 wherein the support is made of a plastic.

10. A portable doorway recreation device for use on a doorway frame comprising:

a pair of spaced L-shaped frames;

a first horizontal elongate bar attached between risers of the L-shaped frame;

a second horizontal elongate bar attached between the bases of the L-shaped frames;

a vise clamp operatively associated with the second elongate bar, wherein with the first elongate bar resting on top of the doorway frame on a first wall side and the second elongate bar operatively associated with a second wall side parallel to the first wall side, the vise clamp is configured to receive a portion of the first and second wall sides to prevent movement of the second elongate bar away from the second wall side, wherein the portion of the first wall side received by the vise clamp comprises a surface of door jamb of a door facing opposite the second wall side, the vise clamp being attached to the second horizontal elongate bar by a threaded end of the second horizontal elongate bar, a cone washer received on the second horizontal elongate bar and a knob defining an internal pressure nut configured to threadably engage the threaded end of the second horizontal elongate bar to operatively receive the cone washer, wherein with the knob snugly screwed onto the threaded end of the second horizontal elongate bar the vise clamp is prevented from moving lengthwise of the second horizontal elongate bar.

11. A portable doorway recreation device for use on a doorway frame comprising:

a pair of spaced L-shaped frames;

a first horizontal elongate bar attached between risers of the L-shaped frame;

a second horizontal elongate bar attached between the bases of the L-shaped frames;

a vise clamp operatively associated with the second elongate bar, wherein with the first elongate bar resting on top of the doorway frame on a first wall side and the second elongate bar operatively associated with a second wall side parallel to the first wall side, the vise clamp is configured to receive a portion of the first and second wall sides to prevent movement of the second elongate bar away from the second wall side; and

wherein the vise clamp comprises a pair of opposing first and second jaws, the second elongate horizontal bar being operatively associated with the vise clamp in a manner wherein the second jaw of the vise clamp is in direct physical contact with the second wall side and the second elongate horizontal bar does not directly contact the second wall.
