Abstract

Systems and methods relating to one or more ride-sharing vehicles, each having a driver mobile device in the vehicle to receive a ride-sharing request from one or more riders. The system includes a server coupled to the mobile device, wherein the server receives a group purchase of rides, the server determining first and second riders interested in purchasing rides and establishing a customer-defined group identity with the first and second rider being group members receiving a benefit, and wherein the one or more ride-sharing vehicles provides one or more rides by the first and second customer using the group identity.

Claims (23)

1. A system, comprising:

a demand aggregation network that invites prospective buyers to join the network, the network operating a purchasing module with a benefit of buying a plurality of items from a plurality of providers, the prospective buyers committing to buying the items when a winning provider is determined by the group;

a computer receiving a trip request from one or more potential riders and a delivery request from the network to deliver the items to the buyers, including a module for:

matching, by the computer, the trip request and delivery request to one or more routes having a common route and satisfying a cost effective navigation route; and

dispatching by a computer, a vehicle to pick up the items and the rider along the cost effective route.

2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the vehicle receives a pick-up location, a delivery location and a delivery time for the package.

3. The system of claim 1 , wherein the vehicle retrieves a social network profile from the rider and recommends one or more items of interests for the group.

4. The system of claim 1 , wherein the item is at least one of a food product, a perishable, a consumable, a household item, a commodity, a beverage, a fruit, a bread, a meat, a paper product, a tool, a medicine, a plastic product, and a health related product.

5. The system of claim 1 , comprising geo-fencing the items in an area that encompasses a neighborhood community in a threshold geographical radius from a user who creates the group.

6. The system of claim 5 , wherein the geo-fencing is constrained to a street, a neighborhood, a city, and a county.

7. The system of claim 1 , wherein the benefit includes a discount or a reward.

8. The system of claim 1 , comprising a bidding system coupled to the providers of the items with a time constrained auction system.

9. The system of claim 1 , further comprising identifying the winning provider through at least one of an open auction system, a closed auction system, a Dutch auction system, a reverse auction system, and a first to commit.

10. The system of claim 1 , wherein the computer compares a delivery location to existing delivery locations for a same day delivery route, and provides potential delivery times to the group.

11. The system of claim 1 , comprising code for correlating the possible delivery times with predetermined delivery windows, presenting to a customer potential delivery windows for the order, and receiving from the customer a selection of a delivery window.

12. The system of claim 1 , comprising code for identifying, by the computer, a first set of points of pick-up or drop-off, each point of pick-up or drop-off in the first set reachable from a planned navigation route with a cost less than a first threshold cost; identifying, by the computer, and a second set of points of pick-up or drop-off, the planned navigation route reachable from each point of pick-up or drop-off in the second set with a cost less than a second threshold cost.

13. The system of claim 1 , wherein the computer determines that one or more riders is an elder person and adds a predetermined time buffer to deliver items to the rider.

14. A method for delivery, comprising:

aggregating with a demand aggregation network that invites prospective buyers to join the network, the network operating a purchasing module with a benefit of buying a plurality of items from a plurality of providers, the prospective buyers committing to buying the items when a winning provider is determined by the group;

receiving by a computer a trip request from one or more potential riders and a delivery request from the network to deliver the items to the buyers;

matching, by the computer, the trip request and delivery request to one or more routes having a common route and satisfying a cost effective navigation route; and

dispatching by a computer, a vehicle to pick up the items and the rider along the cost effective route.

15. The method of claim 13 , comprising identifying, by a computer, a first set of points of pick-up or drop-off, each point of pick-up or drop-off in the first set reachable from a planned navigation route with a cost less than a first threshold cost; and identifying, by the computer, and a second set of points of pick-up or drop-off, the planned navigation route reachable from each point of pick-up or drop-off in the second set with a cost less than a second threshold cost.
