Abstract

Aspects of the present invention relate to context based power management of a head-worn computer.

Claims (13)

1 . A method for power management in a head-mounted display system that includes sensors and an integrated processor comprising:

a. Selecting a desired battery life for the head-mounted display system;

b. determining a relative prioritization of operational functions provided by the head-mounted display, wherein the relative prioritization is based on the selected battery life; and

c. causing the head-mounted display to provide a function with an associated operating condition, wherein both the function and the associated operating condition are based on the prioritization.

2 . The method of claim 1 further comprising:

a. determining an activity that the user is performing based on sensor readings; and

b. providing functions and associated operating condition based on the prioritization.

3 . The method of claim 2 further comprising:

a. determining a change in user activity based on a change in sensor readings; and

b. changing the function or the associated operating condition based on the determined change in activity.

4 . The method of claim 1 wherein the head mounted display is automatically turned OFF periodically to further extend battery life.

5 . The method of claim 1 further comprising, providing a user with information regarding the functions and operating conditions that will be provided in correspondence to the prioritization and desired battery life.

6 . The method of claim 5 further comprising, providing a user interface adapted to take user input to change at least one of an order of prioritized functions, desired battery life setting, and function condition.
