Abstract

A system for the support and management of search for documents is presents. The system includes knowledge-database, query interface and communication to a database of documents to be searched. Information generated during a search session is collected by the system and is added to the knowledge-database. The information is ranked automatically according to the usage of that information by the user. During successive search session, or during search made by other users, the system uses the knowledge-database to support the users with keywords, queries and reference to documents.

Claims (42)

1. A computer system implementing a method for creating a database and using said database for composition of queries, comprising the steps of:

storing in a database at least two terms included within a first query received for a search process as related terms;

receiving terms submitted within a second query for a new search process;

using at least one of said received terms included within said second query to identify at least one stored related term related to said at least one received term in said second query; and including at least one of said identified related terms, in at least one third query in said new search process.

2. The computer system of claim 1 wherein the method further comprises displaying said at least one third query.

3. The computer system of claim 2 wherein the method further comprises receiving a selection from a user to search for documents based on said at least one displayed third query.

4. The computer system of claim 1 wherein the method further comprises using at least a part of said at least one third query to search for documents.

5. The computer system of claim 4 wherein the method further comprises displaying results of said search for documents.

6. The computer system of claim 4 , wherein said step of using the at least one term of said at least one third query to search for documents, further uses other parameters in addition to said at least one term of said at last one third query.

7. The computer system of claim 1 wherein the method further comprises using at least one term of said at least one third query that was not included in said second query to compose a fourth query.

8. The computer system 1 wherein said first query has at least one Boolean relation.

9. The computer system of claim 1 including a server, having a computer hardware processor for performing the method implementation.

10. A computer system implementing a method for creating a database and using said database for the composition of queries, comprising:

receiving a first query;

storing said first query in a database of stored first queries;

receiving a second query;

identifying at least one related stored first query, said related stored first query includes at least one term of said second query; and

using at least a part of said at least one identified related stored first query to perforin a search for documents.

11. The computer system of claim 10 wherein the method further comprises displaying at least one of said identified related stored first queries.

12. The computer system of claim 11 wherein the method further comprises receiving a selection to search for documents based on said at least one displayed identified related stored first query.

13. The computer system of claim 10 wherein the method further comprises including at least one term of said identified related stored first query, that was not included in said second query, in a third query.

14. The computer system of claim 13 wherein the method whereas said third query is composed automatically.

15. The computer system of claim 13 wherein the method further comprises, said including of said least one term of said identified related stored first query is made based on one of; a) a ranking of said related stored term and b) a ranking of said identified related stored first query.

16. The computer system of claim 10 wherein the method further comprises automatically displaying said search results resulting from the step of using.

17. The computer system of claim 10 wherein the method further comprises, said using of said at least one identified related stored first query is done at least based on one of; a) similarity to said second query, and b) a ranking of said identified at least one related stored first query.

18. The computer system of claim 10 wherein the method wherein said databases usage is limited based on at least one of the following; a) individual users b) user groups, each such users group includes at least two users and c) a mix of at least one user and at least one group of users.

19. The computer system of claim 10 wherein said stored first query has at east one Boolean relation.

20. The computer system of claim 10 , wherein said step of using said at least one identified related stored first query to perform a search for documents further uses other parameters in addition to said at least one identified related stored first query.

21. The computer system of claim 10 including a server, having a computer hardware processor for performing the method implementations.

22. A computer system implementing a method for creating a database and using said database for the composition of queries, comprising the steps of:

receiving at least one first query for a first search;

storing in a database said at least one received first query;

storing in a database at least two terms that were included within said at least one received first query as related terms;

receiving at least one term submitted within a second query for a second search, using said at least one received term of said second query to search said database for previously stored first queries that contain at least one related term to said at least one received term within said second query, and;

retrieving at least one first stored query that contain at least one of said related terms for use in third search.

23. The computer system of claim 22 wherein the method further comprises displaying said at least one retrieved stored first query.

24. The computer system of claim 23 wherein the method further comprises, said displaying of said least one retrieved stored first query is made based on the ranking of said retrieved first stored query.

25. The computer system of claim 23 wherein the method further comprises receiving a selection from a user to search for documents based on said at least one displayed retrieved stored first query.

26. The computer system of claim 25 wherein the method further comprises displaying search results of said selected retrieved stored first query.

27. The computer system of claim 22 wherein the method further comprises including at least one term of said at least one retrieved stored first query in a third query.

28. The computer system of claim 22 wherein the method further comprises said stored first query has at least one Boolean relation.

29. The computer system of claim 22 including a server, having a computer ardware processor for performing the method implementation.
