Abstract

Electrolyte solutions including additives or combinations of additives that provide low temperature performance and high temperature stability in lithium ion battery cells.

Claims (8)

1. A electrolyte formulation, comprising:

a lithium salt;

an organic solvent; and

an additive comprising 4-nitrophenyl 2-(trimethylsilyl)ethyl carbonate.

2. The electrolyte formulation of claim 1 further comprising lithium bis(oxalato)borate as a second additive.

3. The electrolyte formulation of claim 1 further comprising LiClO 4 as a second additive.

4. The electrolyte formulation of claim 1 further comprising CsNO 3 as a second additive.

5. The electrolyte formulation of claim 1 further comprising 1,4-butane sultone as second additive.
