Abstract

A device for delivering a number of predetermined amounts of medicament includes a body having proximal and opposite distal ends, extending along a longitudinal axis, and configured to hold a medicament container; a driver in the body configured to act on a held container; a manually movable activation member arranged on the distal end; a biased actuator member movable by the activation member along the longitudinal axis and configured to protrude a distance from a distal end of the activation member and to interact with the driver when the actuator member is moved the distance toward the proximal end for delivering a predetermined amount; and an actuator guide member arranged in the body and configured to interact with the activation member and actuator member such that the guide member is held in a position in the body and released from the position after a predetermined amount of medicament is delivered.

Claims (23)

1. A device for delivering a number of predetermined amounts of medicament, comprising:

a body having a proximal end and an opposite distal end, extending along a longitudinal axis, and configured to hold a medicament container;

a driver arranged inside the body and configured to act on the held medicament container, where the driver comprises a plunger rod that rotates relative to the body and the medicament container during delivery of a predetermined amount of medicament from the device;

a manually movable activation member arranged on the distal end of the body;

a biased actuator member movable along the longitudinal axis by the manually movable activation member, the biased actuator member being configured to protrude a predetermined distance from a distal end of the manually movable activation member and to interact with the driver when the biased actuator member is moved from the predetermined distance toward the proximal end for delivering the predetermined amount of medicament; and

an actuator guide member having at least one first guide element and being rotatably arranged in and relative to the body and configured to interact with the manually movable activation member and with the biased actuator member such that the actuator guide member is held in a position within the body and is released from the held position after the predetermined amount of medicament is delivered;

wherein rotation of the manually movable activation member during activation of the device causes rotation of the actuator guide member, and

wherein the actuator guide member comprises at least one second guide element that is configured to interact with blocking surfaces in at least one group of guide surfaces arranged on an outer circumferential surface of the biased actuator member when the biased actuator member moves toward the proximal end of the body.

2. The device of claim 1 , wherein the at least one first guide element is adapted to interact with a corresponding guide element of the manually movable activation member when the manually movable activation member is moved.

3. The device of claim 1 , wherein the body comprises a proximal housing part and a distal housing part, and the proximal housing part is configured to hold a medicament container comprising a stopper movable inside the medicament container.

4. The device of claim 3 , wherein the plunger rod comprises a threaded plunger rod configured to contact the movable stopper and a transforming mechanism configured to transform the biased actuator member's movement by the predetermined distance to a rotational movement of the threaded plunger rod.

5. The device of claim 4 , wherein the transforming mechanism comprises a first driver rotatably locked to the threaded plunger rod and comprising a first set of protruding structures, and a second driver having a set of inclined surfaces and a second set of protruding structures; and when the biased actuator member is moved the predetermined distance toward the proximal end, the second set of protruding structures interacts with a corresponding set of protruding structures of the biased actuator member and the first set of protruding structures interacts with the set of inclined surfaces on the second driver.

6. The device of claim 2 , wherein further comprising a spring for biasing the biased actuator member in a distal direction from the distal end of the manually movable activation member.

7. The device of claim 6 , wherein the manually movable activation member is arranged in relation to the body such that when the manually movable activation member is moved, the corresponding guide element of the manually movable activation member interacts with the at least one first guide element of the actuator guide member so that the at least one second guide element is moved along the at least one group of guide surfaces, whereby the biased actuator member is moved by the spring in the distal direction for readying the device for medicament delivery.

8. The device of claim 1 , wherein one of the blocking surfaces is a first blocking surface configured to interact with the at least one second guide element for preventing manual movement of the biased actuator member toward the proximal end during movement of the biased actuator member in a distal direction from the distal end of the manually movable activation member.

9. The device of claim 8 , wherein another of the blocking surfaces is a second blocking surface configured to interact with the at least one second guide element for preventing movement of the biased actuator member in a distal direction from the distal end of the manually movable activation member if the biased actuator member is released during a medicament delivery such that delivery is prevented of a subsequent predetermined amount of medicament before a previous predetermined amount of medicament has been fully delivered.

10. The device of claim 1 , wherein the biased actuator member further comprises at least one lock element configured to engage the at least one second guide element for locking the biased actuator member in position when a predetermined amount of medicament has been delivered.

11. The device of claim 10 , wherein the at least one lock element is arranged to lock the biased actuator member in a position moved into the body, thereby indicating that a predetermined amount of medicament has been delivered.

12. The device of claim 10 , wherein the at least one lock element is configured to produce an audible signal when locking the biased actuator member.

13. The device of claim 10 , wherein the at least one lock element includes a flexible tongue.

14. The device of claim 1 , wherein the manually movable activation member is turnably arranged on the body and is configured to turn the actuator guide member when the manually movable activation member is turned in relation to the body.

15. The device of claim 1 , wherein the at least one group of guide surfaces is configured to turn the actuator guide member when the biased actuator member is displaced along the longitudinal axis in relation to the body.

16. The device of claim 1 , wherein movement of the biased actuator member causes a further rotation of said actuator guide member after activation and during delivery of medicament.
