Abstract

Systems and methods for a gambling hybrid game that provides an object launching game in which a player uses a launching device to select a trajectory and speed at which to launch a game object at a target as an entertainment game are disclosed. The entertainment engine provides the game in which a player users a launching device to launch a game object at a selected speed and trajectory towards a target and determines the results of the launch. The status of the game play are provided a game world engine that determines when gambling events should be provided based on the status of game play and a real world engine resolves the gambling event and associated wagers.

Claims (76)

1. A gambling hybrid game system that provides an object launching game as an entertainment game, comprising:

a controller constructed to:

execute the entertainment game and present the entertainment game to a player wherein the entertainment game is the object launching game in which the player uses a launching device to select a trajectory and speed at which to launch a game object at a target, wherein the game object is an enabling element;

receive an input from the player indicating a launch of the game object at a particular speed and trajectory from the launching device in the entertainment game;

determine a result of the launch of the game object in the entertainment game;

generate status updates regarding play of the object launching game;

communicate, to a game world server, consumption of the game object by the player during play of the entertainment game triggering a gambling event; and

receive, from the game world server, the result of the gambling event;

a real world engine constructed to:

receive, from the game world server, consumption of the game object by the player during play of the entertainment game and whose consumption by the player triggers the gambling event;

determine the result of the gambling event based on a wager on a proposition;

communicate, to the game world server, the result of the gambling event; and

the game world server, connected to the controller via a network and connected to the real world engine via a communication link, constructed to:

manage the entertainment game executed by the controller;

receive, from the controller, when the game object has been consumed by the player during play of the entertainment game triggering the gambling event;

communicate, to the real world engine, consumption of the game object by the player during play of the entertainment game and whose consumption by the player triggers the gambling event;

receive, from the controller, the status update about the object launching game;

receive, from the real world engine, the result of the gambling event;

provide indeterminate game resources based on the result of the gambling event; and

communicate, to the controller, the result of the gambling event.

2. The gambling hybrid game system of claim 1 wherein the game world server is constructed to use the status update along with the result of the gambling event to determine the amount of an intermediate game resources to award.

3. The gambling hybrid game system of claim 1 wherein the game world server is further constructed to:

allow the player to use the indeterminate game resources to acquire entertainment game elements;

receive a request from the player to acquire the entertainment game elements;

deduct the amount of the indeterminate game resources from an intermediate game resources account of the player; and

provide an update of the entertainment game elements to the controller for use in the entertainment game.

4. The gambling hybrid game system of claim 1 wherein the game world server further is constructed to:

determine an amount of game world currency to provide to the player based on the result of the gambling event.

5. The gambling hybrid game system of claim 1 , wherein the communications link is the network.

6. A gambling hybrid game system that provides an object launching game as an entertainment game, comprising:

a controller constructed to:

execute the entertainment game and present the entertainment game to a player wherein the entertainment game is the object launching game in which the player uses a launching device to select a trajectory and speed at which to launch a game object at a target, wherein the game object is an enabling element;

receive an input from the player indicating a launch of the game object at a particular speed and trajectory from the launching device in the entertainment game;

determine a result of the launch of the game object in the entertainment game;

generate status updates regarding play of the object launching game;

communicate, to a game world server, consumption of the game object by the player during play of the entertainment game triggering a gambling event; and

receive, from the game world server, the result of the gambling event; and

the game world server, connected to the controller via a network and connected to a real world engine via a communication link, constructed to:

manage the entertainment game executed by the controller;

receive, from the controller, when the game object has been consumed by the player during play of the entertainment game triggering the gambling event;

communicate, to the real world engine, consumption of the game object by the player during play of the entertainment game and whose consumption by the player triggers the gambling event;

receive, from the controller, the status update about the object launching game;

receive, from the real world engine, the result of the gambling event;

provide indeterminate game resources based on the result of the gambling event; and

communicate, to the controller, the result of the gambling event.

7. The gambling hybrid game system of claim 6 , wherein the game world server is constructed to use the status update along with the result of the gambling event to determine the amount of an intermediate game resources to award.

8. The gambling hybrid game system of claim 6 , wherein the game world server is further constructed to:

allow the player to use the indeterminate game resource to acquire entertainment game elements;

receive a request from the player to acquire the entertainment game elements;

deduct the amount of the indeterminate game resources from an intermediate game resources account of the player; and

provide an update of the entertainment game elements to the controller for use in the entertainment game.

9. The gambling hybrid game system of claim 6 , wherein the game world server further is constructed to:

determine an amount of game world currency to provide to the player based on the result of the gambling event.

10. The gambling hybrid game system of claim 6 , wherein the communications link is the network.

11. A gambling hybrid game system that provides an object launching game as an entertainment game, comprising:

a real world engine constructed to:

receive, from a game world server, consumption of a game object by a player during play of the entertainment game and whose consumption by the player triggers a gambling event;

determine a result of the gambling event based on a wager on a proposition;

communicate, to the game world server, the result of the gambling event; and

the game world server, connected to a controller via a network and connected to the real world engine via a communication link, constructed to:

manage the entertainment game executed by the controller;

receive, from the controller, when the game object has been consumed by the player during play of the entertainment game triggering the gambling event;

communicate, to the real world engine, consumption of the game object by the player during play of the entertainment game and whose consumption by the player triggers the gambling event;

receive, from the controller, a status update about the object launching game;

receive, from the real world engine, the result of the gambling event;

provide indeterminate game resources based on the result of the gambling event; and

communicate, to the controller, the result of the gambling event.

12. The gambling hybrid game system of claim 11 , wherein the game world server is constructed to use the status update along with the result of the gambling event to determine the amount of an intermediate game resources to award.
