Abstract

A telecommunications cabinet includes a cabinet housing; a fiber optic splitter; a plurality of spools disposed on a cable management surface; a panel oriented at a fixed angle relative to the access opening so that the panel extends laterally and rearwardly between the access opening and the cable management surface; and a plurality of adapters disposed on the panel.

Claims (27)

1. A telecommunications cabinet comprising:

a cabinet housing defining an interior, the cabinet housing having an access opening and a door for opening and closing the access opening;

a frame mounted within the interior of the cabinet housing;

at least one adapter module that mounts on the frame, the adapter module including a plurality of fiber optic adapters at a front of the adapter module, the adapter module also including an optical splitter, the fiber optic adapters including front ports that are mateable with fiber optic connectors;

a connector storage structure positioned within the interior of the cabinet housing, the connector storage structure including a plurality of connector holders for holding and storing the fiber optic connectors, the connector holders being configured differently than the fiber optic adapters, and the connector holders being configured to receive ferrules of the fiber optic connectors; and

fiber optic cords having ends terminated by the fiber optic connectors, wherein the fiber optic connectors are inserted into the front ports of the fiber optic adapters to provide optical connections with customers, and wherein the fiber optic connectors are stored at the connector storage structure until providing the optical connections with the customers is desired.

2. The telecommunications cabinet of claim 1 , wherein the connector holders receive the ferrules of the fiber optic connectors while dust caps remain on the ferrules.

3. The telecommunications cabinet of claim 1 , wherein the fiber optic connectors are stored in a plurality of rows.

4. The telecommunications cabinet of claim 1 , wherein the connector storage structure is a connector storage module that mounts to a panel.

5. The telecommunications cabinet of claim 1 , wherein each of the connector holders includes a main housing and an inner housing mounted within the main housing.

6. The telecommunications cabinet of claim 1 , wherein a plurality of the adapter modules are mounted to the frame.

7. The telecommunications cabinet of claim 1 , wherein each of the fiber optic connectors defines a central axis, and wherein the fiber optic connectors are stored such that each of the central axes is in a generally horizontal orientation.

8. The telecommunications cabinet of claim 1 , wherein the fiber optic connectors are SC connectors.

9. The telecommunications cabinet of claim 1 , wherein the optical splitter is configured to combine signals from the fiber cords.

10. A telecommunications cabinet comprising:

a cabinet housing defining an interior, the cabinet housing having an access opening and a door for opening and closing the access opening;

a frame mounted within the interior of the cabinet housing;

at least one adapter module that mounts on the frame, the adapter module including a plurality of fiber optic adapters, the adapter module also including an optical splitter, the fiber optic adapters including ports that are mateable with fiber optic connectors;

a connector storage structure positioned within the interior of the cabinet housing, the connector storage structure including a plurality of connector holders for holding and storing the fiber optic connectors, the connector holders being configured differently than the fiber optic adapters, and the connector holders being configured to receive ferrules of the fiber optic connectors; and

fiber optic cords having ends terminated by the fiber optic connectors, wherein the fiber optic connectors are inserted into the ports of the fiber optic adapters to provide optical connections with customers, wherein the fiber optic connectors are stored at the connector storage structure until providing the optical connections with the customers is desired, and wherein the optical splitter is configured to combine signals from the fiber optic cords when the fiber optic connectors of the fiber optic cords are mated with the ports of the fiber optic adapters.

11. The telecommunications cabinet of claim 10 , wherein the connector holders receive the ferrules of the fiber optic connectors while dust caps remain on the ferrules.

12. The telecommunications cabinet of claim 10 , wherein the fiber optic connectors are stored in a plurality of rows.

13. The telecommunications cabinet of claim 10 , wherein the connector storage structure is a connector storage module that mounts to a panel.

14. The telecommunications cabinet of claim 10 , wherein each of the connector holders includes a main housing and an inner housing mounted within the main housing.

15. The telecommunications cabinet of claim 10 , wherein a plurality of the adapter modules are mounted to the frame.

16. The telecommunications cabinet of claim 10 , wherein each of the fiber optic connectors defines a central axis, and wherein the fiber optic connectors are stored such that each of the central axes is in a generally horizontal orientation.

17. The telecommunications cabinet of claim 10 , wherein the fiber optic connectors are SC connectors.
