Abstract

In some embodiments, a method includes detecting, by the first emotive lighting controller, the wagering game event for which to present the coordinated media show. The method can include executing, by the first emotive lighting controller, an instruction script identifying a first group of media effects for the coordinated media show, and in response to executing the instruction script, causing presentation of the first group of media effects by at least one media device connected, via a network, to the first emotive lighting controller. The method can include detecting a synchronization trigger associated with the coordinated media show, and in response to the synchronization trigger, transmitting a synchronization marker to at least a second emotive lighting controller in the network, wherein the synchronization marker causes the second emotive lighting controller to transition to a second group of media effects for the coordinated media show.

Claims (41)

1. A method for controlling, by a first emotive lighting controller, a coordinated media show associated with a wagering game event, the method comprising:

detecting, by the first emotive lighting controller via a communication path to a wagering game machine, the wagering game event for which to present the coordinated media show;

in response to detecting the wagering game event, executing, by the first emotive lighting controller, an instruction script identifying a first group of media effects for the coordinated media show;

in response to executing the instruction script, causing presentation of the first group of media effects by at least one lighting device connected, via a network, to the first emotive lighting controller;

detecting, by the first emotive lighting controller, a synchronization trigger associated with the coordinated media show; and

in response to detecting the synchronization trigger, transmitting a synchronization marker to at least a second emotive lighting controller in the network, wherein the synchronization marker causes the second emotive lighting controller to transition to a second group of media effects for the coordinated media show, the second emotive lighting controller causing presentation of the second group of media effects by at least one other lighting device connected, via the network, to the second emotive lighting controller.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the wagering game event originates in a wagering game machine connected to the first emotive lighting controller via the network.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the wagering game event indicates a result for a wagering game, wherein the result is determined by one of a wagering game machine and a wagering game server.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the synchronization trigger is included in media content used in presenting the first group of media effects.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the media content includes one or more of audio content, video content, and images.

6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the synchronization trigger is included in the instruction script.

7. The method of claim 1 wherein transitioning to the second group of media content comprises:

waiting, by the second emotive lighting controller, to receive the synchronization marker before presenting media effects from the second group;

receiving, by the second emotive lighting controller, the synchronization marker from the first emotive lighting controller over the network; and

in response to the synchronization marker, presenting the media effects from the second group.

8. The method of claim 1 , wherein the transmitting the synchronization marker includes broadcasting the synchronization marker to the second emotive lighting controller and a third emotive lighting controller over a multi-drop network that delivers the synchronization marker to the second and third emotive lighting controllers at substantially the same time.

9. The method of claim 1 , wherein the wagering game event indicates one or more of a jackpot award for the wagering game, a casino-wide celebration, and a bonus game.

10. An emotive lighting controller comprising:

a processor;

a network interface configured to connect to a network;

one or more non-transitory machine-readable mediums including instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the emotive lighting controller to perform operations for presenting a coordinated media show, the operations including:

detecting a wagering game event for which to present the coordinated media show;

executing an instruction script identifying a first group of media content of the coordinated media show;

in response to executing the instruction script, causing presentation of the first group of media content by at least one lighting device connected, via the network, to the emotive lighting controller;

detecting a synchronization trigger associated with the coordinated media show; and

in response to detecting the synchronization trigger, transmitting a synchronization marker to at least one other emotive lighting controller on the network, wherein the synchronization marker causes the at least one other emotive lighting controller to initiate presentation, by at least one other lighting device connected via the network to the at least one other emotive lighting controller, of a second group of media content for the coordinated media show.

11. The emotive lighting controller of claim 10 , wherein the wagering game event originates at a wagering game server, and indicates a result for a wagering game.

12. The emotive lighting controller of claim 10 , wherein the wagering game event is received from a wagering game machine, and wherein the wagering game event indicates a result for a wagering game.

13. The emotive lighting controller of claim 10 , wherein the first group of media content includes one more of lighting content, video content, and audio content.

14. The emotive lighting controller of claim 10 , wherein the synchronization trigger is included in the first group of media content.

15. The emotive lighting controller of claim 10 , wherein the synchronization trigger is another wagering game event.

16. One or more non-transitory machine-readable mediums including instructions that, when executed by a processor in an emotive lighting controller, cause the emotive lighting controller to perform operations for presenting a coordinated media show, the operations comprising:

detecting, by the emotive lighting controller, a wagering game event for which to present the coordinated media show, the wagering game event originating in a wagering game machine connected to the emotive lighting controller via a network;

in response to detecting the wagering game event, executing, by the emotive lighting controller, an instruction script identifying a first group of media effects for the coordinated media show;

in response to executing the instruction script, causing presentation of the first group of media effects by at least one lighting device connected, via the network, to the emotive lighting controller;

detecting, by the emotive lighting controller monitoring, a synchronization trigger associated with the coordinated media show; and

in response to detecting the synchronization trigger, transmitting a synchronization marker to at least one other emotive lighting controller in the network, wherein the synchronization marker causes the at least one other emotive lighting controller to transition to a second group of media effects for the coordinated media show, the at least one other emotive lighting controller causing presentation of the second group of media effects by at least one other lighting device connected, via the network, to the at least one other emotive lighting controller.

17. The machine-readable media of claim 16 , wherein the wagering game event originates in a wagering game machine connected to the first emotive lighting controller via the network.

18. The machine-readable media of claim 16 , wherein the wagering game event indicates a result for a wagering game, wherein the result is determined by one of the wagering game machine and a wagering game server.

19. The machine-readable media of claim 16 , wherein the synchronization trigger is included in media content used in presenting the first group of media effects.

20. The machine-readable media of claim 16 , wherein the media content includes one or more of audio content, video content, and images.
