Abstract

There is provided a production method of a lithium-containing composite oxide capable of improving performances of cycle characteristics, rate characteristics, and the like of a lithium ion secondary battery. A production method of a lithium-containing composite oxide is characterized in that when producing a lithium-containing composite oxide by mixing a transition metal hydroxide containing Ni and Mn essentially and a lithium source and heating the mixture, a transition metal hydroxide having a crystallite diameter of the (100) plane being 35 nm or less in a crystal structure model in the space group P-3m1 of an X-ray diffraction pattern is used.

Claims (11)

1. A lithium-containing composite oxide represented by Formula 5-B,

wherein a peak intensity ratio (I 003 /I 104 ) of an integral value (I 003 ) of a diffraction peak of the (003) plane and an integral value (I 104 ) of a diffraction peak of the (104) plane in an X-ray diffraction pattern is from 1.18 to 1.35, and a crystallite size of the (110) plane in the X-ray diffraction pattern is less than 30 nm; and

wherein Formula 5-B is:

Li α2 Ni x2 Mn y2 Co z2 Me a2 O b2 . . . ,

wherein Me represents at least one type of element selected from the group consisting of Mg, Ca, Al, Ti, V, Cr, Nb, Mo, W, and Zr, and wherein α2, x2, y2, z2, a2, and b2 satisfy the relations of 1.02≤α2≤1.2, 0.3<x2≤0.6, 0.2≤y2≤0.4, 0.15≤z2≤0.35, 0≤a2≤0.1, x2+y2+z2+a2=1, and 1.9≤b2≤2.1 respectively.

2. The lithium-containing composite oxide according to claim 1 ,

wherein a specific surface area of the lithium-containing composite oxide is 0.1 to 10 m 2 /g.

3. The lithium-containing composite oxide according to claim 1 ,

wherein the peak intensity ratio (I 003 /I 104 ) is 1.20 to 1.35.

4. The lithium-containing composite oxide according to claim 1 , wherein

x2 satisfies the relation of 0.33≤x2≤0.6.
