Abstract

A remote location monitoring system, for example, a home monitoring or weather monitoring system may include one or more sensors and/or receivers at a remote location such as a residence or business to be monitored. The sensors and receivers may communicate with a central server via a gateway device, and may be controlled by users locally or remotely via the server. Users may register to receive remote notifications of weather events and other home monitoring events. Users may also access remotely sensors and receivers to configure alerts, notifications, and automatic responses for the devices and integrated appliances at the remote location.

Claims (48)

1. A computing device, comprising:

at least one processor; and

memory storing computer executable instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the at least one processor to:

receive detection data via a computer network, the detection data corresponding to detection readings from a plurality of detector devices at a plurality of remote locations;

retrieve one or more detection parameters associated with one or more users;

compare the detection data to the one or more detection parameters, resulting in a comparison;

update, based on the comparison, a resource accessible by the one or more users with the detection data; and

provide a graphical user interface to facilitate user interaction with the resource, wherein the graphical user interface comprises an interactive map, and wherein the detection data is rendered on the interactive map in respect to a geographical location corresponding to the remote location of the detector device sending the detection data.

The computing device of claim 1 , wherein the graphical user interface further comprises a data summary box configured to display at least one of a name of the geographical location, a number of users in the geographical location, a number of detector devices in the geographical location, and an average of the detection data from the detector devices in the geographical location.

3. The computing device of claim 2 , wherein the memory stores further instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the at least one processor to:

receive further detection data via the computer network; and

update the data summary box in response to determined changes between the detection data and the further detection data.

The computing device of claim 1 , wherein the detection data comprises at least one of temperature data from a temperature sensor, wind data from a wind sensor, humidity data from a humidity sensor, rain data from a rain sensor, motion data from a motion sensor, electricity consumption data from a power sensor, pollen data from a pollen sensor, pressure data from a pressure sensor, static charge data from a static charge sensor, standing water data from a standing water sensor, visible light data from a visible light sensor, and alarm data from an alarm.

5. The computing device of claim 1 , wherein the user interaction comprises zooming in or zooming out of the geographical location of the interactive map.

The computing device of claim 5 , wherein the graphical user interface further comprises a data summary box, and wherein zooming in or zooming out causes displaying at least one of a name of the geographical location, a number of users in the geographical location, a number of detector devices in the geographical location, and an average of the detection data from the detector devices in the geographical location.

7. The computing device of claim 1 , wherein the geographical location is a user-entered location, the user-entered location comprising at least one of a zip code, a city name, or a country name entered by a user.

8. A method comprising:

receiving, by a computing device and via a computer network, detection data corresponding to detection readings from a plurality of detector devices at a plurality of remote locations;

retrieving one or more detection parameters associated with one or more users;

comparing the detection data to the one or more detection parameters, resulting in a comparison;

updating, based on the comparison, a resource accessible by the one or more users with the detection data; and

providing a graphical user interface to facilitate user interaction with the resource, wherein the graphical user interface comprises an interactive map, and wherein the detection data is rendered on the interactive map in respect to a geographical location corresponding to the remote location of the detector device sending the detection data.

The method of claim 8 , wherein the graphical user interface further comprises a data summary box configured to display at least one of a name of the geographical location, a number of users in the geographical location, a number of detector devices in the geographical location, and an average of the detection data from the detector devices in the geographical location.

10. The method of claim 9 , further comprising:

receiving further detection data via the computer network; and

updating the data summary box in response to determined changes between the detection data and the further detection data.

11. The method of claim 8 , wherein the detection data comprises at least one of temperature data from a temperature sensor, wind data from a wind sensor, humidity data from a humidity sensor, rain data from a rain sensor, motion data from a motion sensor, electricity consumption data from a power sensor, pollen data from a pollen sensor, pressure data from a pressure sensor, static charge data from a static charge sensor, standing water data from a standing water sensor, visible light data from a visible light sensor, and alarm data from an alarm.

12. The method of claim 8 , wherein the user interaction comprises zooming in or zooming out of the interactive map.

The method of claim 12 , wherein the graphical user interface further comprises a data summary box, and wherein zooming in or zooming out causes the data summary box to at least update one of a name of the geographical location, a number of users in the geographical location, a number of detector devices in the geographical location, and an average of the detection data from the detector devices in the geographical location.

14. The method of claim 8 , wherein the geographical location is a user-entered location, the user-entered location comprising at least one of a zip code, a city name, or a country name entered by a user.

15. A system comprising:

a detection data processing device; and

one or more detector devices installed at one or more remote locations to the detection data processing device,

wherein the detection data processing device comprises:

at least one processor; and

memory storing computer executable instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the at least one processor to:

receive detection data via a computer network, the detection data corresponding to detection readings from a plurality of detector devices at a plurality of remote locations;

retrieve one or more detection parameters associated with one or more users;

compare the detection data to the one or more detection parameters, resulting in a comparison;

update, based on the comparison, a resource accessible by the one or more users with the detection data; and

provide a graphical user interface to facilitate user interaction with the resource, wherein the graphical user interface comprises an interactive map, and wherein the detection data is rendered on the interactive map in respect to a geographical location corresponding to the remote location of the detector device sending the detection data.

The system of claim 15 , wherein the graphical user interface further comprises a data summary box configured to display at least one a name of the geographical location, a number of users in the geographical location, a number of detector devices in the geographical location, and an average of the detection data from the detector devices in the geographical location.

17. The system of claim 16 , wherein the memory stores further instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the at least one processor to:

receive further detection data via the computer network; and

update the data summary box in response to determined changes between the detection data and the further detection data.

The system of claim 15 , wherein the detection data comprises at least one of temperature data from a temperature sensor, wind data from a wind sensor, humidity data from a humidity sensor, rain data from a rain sensor, motion data from a motion sensor, electricity consumption data from a power sensor, pollen data from a pollen sensor, pressure data from a pressure sensor, static charge data from a static charge sensor, standing water data from a standing water sensor, visible light data from a visible light sensor, and alarm data from an alarm.

The system of claim 15 , wherein the graphical user interface further comprises a data summary box, wherein the user interaction comprises zooming in or zooming out of the interactive map, and wherein the zooming in or the zooming out causes the data summary box to at least update one of a name of the geographical location, a number of users in the geographical location, a number of detector devices in the geographical location, and an average of the detection data from the detector devices in the geographical location.

20. The system of claim 15 , wherein the geographical location is a user-entered location, the user-entered location comprising at least one of a zip code, a city name, or a country name entered by a user.
