Abstract

A bioremodelable encasement structure comprising a pouch formed from at least one sheet of bioremodelable material, the pouch including an internal region that is configured to receive a device therein, the bioremodelable material comprising mesothelial tissue.

Claims (9)

1. A medical product, comprising:

a bioremodelable pouch structure comprising an extracellular matrix (ECM) composition,

said ECM composition comprising acellular ECM derived from small intestine submucosa (SIS), said bioremodelable composition further comprising supplemental fibronectin, said acellular ECM comprising altered collagen and fibronectin structures,

said pouch structure having an internal region configured to receive a medical device therein; and

an implantable medical device disposed in said pouch structure internal region,

said pouch structure being configured to modulate inflammation of damaged biological tissue and induce cell and tissue proliferation, bioremodeling of said damaged biological tissue, and regeneration of new tissue and tissue structures with site-specific structural and functional properties, when said pouch structure is delivered to said damaged biological tissue.

2. The medical product of claim 1 , wherein said ECM composition further comprises an additional biologically active agent.

3. The medical product of claim 2 , wherein said additional biologically active agent comprises fibroblast growth factor-2 (FGF-2).

4. The medical product of claim 1 , wherein said implantable medical device comprises a medical device selected from the group consisting of a pacemaker, defibrillator and ventricular assist device.
