Abstract

A method and apparatus in which multiple Internet Protocol (IP) based wireless data transmissions are simultaneously provided between a wireless device and a server, including providing multiple antennas, multiple T/R units, multiple processors and multiple I/O ports on the wireless device. The method includes receiving multiple IP data packets on the I/O ports at substantially the same time, and sending multiple data packets from the wireless device to the server, whereby the transmission rate between the wireless device and the server is increased.

Claims (25)

1. A communication system, comprising:

a network switch box configured for communicatively coupling with a plurality of radios and a optical network and

a server, wherein the server functions as a control device; wherein the system enables multiple wireless signals to be sent via an optical network for connection to a wide area network (WAN); wherein the server controls the communication protocols in conjunction with the network switching box; wherein multiple virtual networks are under the control of the server;

wherein the network switch box has a plurality of ports and is communicatively coupled with the optical network via the plurality of ports and/or via Ethernet,

and

wherein the network switch box is enabled to operate on a plurality of networks such that it receives input from the optical network,

and

wherein the server controls the communication protocols in conjunction with the network switching box; wherein multiple virtual networks are under the control of the server;

and wherein the server controls the network path of communication between the network switch box and a one more additional network boxes to dynamically control the network path of communication between the portable electronic device and a remote server.

2. The communication system of claim 1 , wherein the communication system uses one or more virtual networks or overlay networks to enable efficient selection of multiple paths of communication between a plurality of communication devices and remote servers via a plurality of network boxes.

3. The communication system of claim 1 , further comprising a first radio and a second radio communicatively coupled with the network switch box.

4. The communication system of claim 3 , wherein the first radio is configured for communicative coupling with a wireless network or Ethernet network, and the second radio is configured for communicative coupling with a TV.

5. The communication system of claim 4 , wherein the second radio is configured for communicative coupling with a TV via an optical network.

6. The communication system of claim 5 , wherein the second radio is configured for communicative coupling with a TV via mobile device and a local communication radio.

7. The communication system of claim 6 , wherein the network switch box is configured to download or stream video content and display the video content on the TV or on a mobile device.

8. The communication system of claim 7 , wherein the mobile device is configured to contain downloaded video content and stream the video content to the network switch box, wherein the first radio is configured for one or more of wireless local networks inclusive of wi-fi and downloading the content from the mobile device, and wherein the second radio is configured for optical communication and allowing the video content to be sent directly to the TV.

9. The communication system of claim 5 , wherein an IP-based server is integrated into the network switch box.

10. A system for a mobile device, an adapter, and a local network box, said system comprising:

a. a first portion of the adapter for wirelessly communicatively coupling the adapter with the mobile device; and

b. wherein the mobile device is enabled for a plurality of environments and applications and wherein the mobile device is enabled to interface to various inputs and outputs by a plug in method into a receptacle or socket or by wired or wireless means such as a docking station;

c. wherein the mobile device downloads the stream from the remote server via a network connection and sends substantially the stream to the adapter wirelessly, wherein the adapter displays said stream of content for display on display device; and

d. wherein the adapter is in wireless communication with the mobile device and physical communication with the network box, wherein the network box is configured with a plurality of ports and a plurality of radio frequency wireless transmit and receive units configured to communicate wireless signals over at least two frequency bands sequentially or simultaneously to a plurality of devices, wherein a second stream of data is sent by the network box to the mobile device, wherein the adapter and network box are physically integrated into a portable wireless device; and wherein the portable wireless device is enabled for voice input.

11. The system of claim 10 , wherein the mobile device includes the functions of a cellular phone.

12. The system of claim 10 , wherein the adapter is a wireless enabling attachment further comprising internal processing electronics.

13. The system of claim 10 , wherein the display device is a computer, CRT, display, or TV, or combinations thereof.
