Abstract

Systems and methods are disclosed for traffic filtration by content providers. One method includes receiving a content request from a device of a user; determining whether one or more container tags are associated with requested content; determining, prior to responding to the content request, whether the content request is by a user based on the content request and the one or more container tags; generating, prior to responding to the content request, an ad request based on the content request and the one or more container tags; determining, prior to responding to the content request, an ad request recipient based on the generated ad request and the one or more container tags; transmitting the ad request to the determined ad request recipient; and transmitting, over the electronic network to the device, a response to the content request when the content request is determined to be by a user.

Claims (61)

1. A computer-implemented method for online traffic filtration by electronic content providers, the method comprising:

receiving, over an electronic network, at a first electronic content provider, a first electronic content request for a requested webpage, from a user device;

determining, by at least one processor, a plurality of embedded container tags associated with the requested webpage, the embedded container tags comprising at least one embedded electronic content recipient tag and at least one embedded fraud-detection tag, the embedded container tags being embedded in the requested webpage;

determining, by the at least one processor, prior to responding to the first electronic content request, whether the first electronic content request was received from a recognized user based on the first electronic content request and the embedded fraud-detection tag;

generating, by the at least one processor, a second electronic content request, based on the first electronic content request and the embedded container tags, when the first electronic content request is determined to be received from the recognized user;

determining, by the at least one processor, a second electronic content provider based on the requested webpage and the embedded electronic content recipient tag;

transmitting, over the electronic network, the second electronic content request to the determined second electronic content provider upon determining that the first electronic content request was made by the recognized user; and

transmitting, over the electronic network to the user device, a response to the first electronic content request upon determining that the first electronic content request is determined to be by the recognized user.

2. The method according to claim 1 , further comprising:

determining, by the at least one processor, prior to responding to the first electronic content request, the user device includes an electronic content blocker based on at least one of the embedded container tags.

3. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the first electronic content provider is at least one of an Internet publisher and a content distribution network.

4. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the second electronic content request recipient is at least one of an ad exchange and an ad server.

5. The method according to claim 1 , wherein

determining whether the first electronic content request is by a recognized user includes:

comparing, by the at least one processor, an IP address of the first electronic content request to a list of known fraudulent IP addresses, based on at least one of the embedded container tags.

6. The method according to claim 1 , further comprising:

accessing, by the at least one processor, a database of user data, based on at least one of the embedded container tags;

determining, by the at least one processor, user data from the database to append to the second electronic content request based on the first electronic content request from the user device;

appending, by the at least one processor, user data from the database to the second electronic content request.

7. The method according to claim 1 , further comprising:

receiving, over the electronic network, a second electronic content request response from the determined second electronic content request recipient, wherein the response to the first electronic content request includes the second electronic content request response.

8. A system for online traffic filtration by electronic content providers, the system including:

a data storage device that stores instructions for online traffic filtration by electronic content providers; and

a processor configured to execute the instructions to perform a method including:

receiving, over an electronic network, at a first electronic content provider, a first electronic content request for a requested webpage, from a user device;

determining, by at least one processor, a plurality of embedded container tags associated with the requested webpage, the embedded container tags comprising at least one embedded electronic content recipient tag and at least one embedded fraud-detection tag, the embedded container tags being embedded in the requested webpage;

determining, by the at least one processor, prior to responding to the first electronic content request, whether the first electronic content request was received from a recognized user based on the first electronic content request and the embedded fraud-detection tag;

generating, by the at least one processor, a second electronic content request, based on the first electronic content request and the embedded container tags, when the first electronic content request is determined to be received from the recognized user;

determining, by the at least one processor, a second electronic content provider based on the requested webpage and the embedded electronic content recipient tag;

transmitting, over the electronic network, the second electronic content request to the determined second electronic content provider upon determining that the first electronic content request was made by the recognized user; and

transmitting, over the electronic network to the user device, a response to the first electronic content request upon determining that the first electronic content request is determined to be by the recognized user.

9. The system according to claim 8 , wherein the processor is further configured to execute the instructions to perform the method including:

determining, by the at least one processor, prior to responding to the first electronic content request, the user device includes an electronic content blocker based on at least one of the embedded container tags.

10. The system according to claim 8 , wherein the first electronic content provider is at least one of an Internet publisher and a content distribution network.

11. The system according to claim 8 , wherein the second electronic content request recipient is at least one of an ad exchange and an ad server.

12. The system according to claim 8 , wherein determining whether the first electronic content request is by a recognize user includes:

comparing, by the at least one processor, an IP address of the first electronic content request to a list of known fraudulent IP addresses, based on at least one of the embedded container tags.

13. The system according to claim 8 , wherein the processor is further configured to execute the instructions to perform the method including:

accessing, by the at least one processor, a database of user data, based on at least one of the embedded container tags;

determining, by the at least one processor, user data from the database to append to the second electronic content request based on the first electronic content request from the user device;

appending, by the at least one processor, user data from the database to the second electronic content request.

14. The system according to claim 8 , wherein the processor is further configured to execute the instructions to perform the method including:

receiving, over the electronic network, a second electronic content request response from the determined second electronic content request recipient, wherein the response to the first electronic content request includes the second electronic content request response.

15. A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing instructions that, when executed by a computer, cause the computer to perform a method for online traffic filtration by electronic content providers, the method including:

receiving, over an electronic network, at a first electronic content provider, a first electronic content request for a requested webpage, from a user device;

determining, by at least one processor, a plurality of embedded container tags associated with the requested webpage, the embedded container tags comprising at least one embedded electronic content recipient tag and at least one embedded fraud-detection tag, the embedded container tags being embedded in the requested webpage;

determining, by the at least one processor, prior to responding to the first electronic content request, whether the first electronic content request was received from a recognized user based on the first electronic content request and the embedded fraud-detection tag;

generating, by the at least one processor, a second electronic content request, based on the first electronic content request and the embedded container tags, when the first electronic content request is determined to be received from the recognized user;

determining, by the at least one processor, a second electronic content provider based on the requested webpage and the embedded electronic content recipient tag;

transmitting, over the electronic network, the second electronic content request to the determined second electronic content provider upon determining that the first electronic content request was made by the recognized user; and

transmitting, over the electronic network to the user device, a response to the first electronic content request upon determining that the first electronic content request is determined to be by the recognized user.
