Abstract

When results of a medical diagnostic examination performed on a patient are initially or newly generated and stored into a medical diagnostic provider system, procurement of binding quotes of types of insurance that require a medical diagnostic exam to be performed and for which the patient is an insured party may be automatically initiated or triggered. Procurement of binding quotes may include, with customer or patient permission, generation of a health profile of the patient based upon the exam results, provision of the health profile to insurance providers (e.g., using an online auction), reception of binding quotes from at least some of the insurance providers, and acceptance of one of the binding quotes on behalf of the patient, thereby entering into a binding contract for insurance. Using the techniques disclosed herein, the patient may automatically be provided with approved insurance coverage upon completion of his or her medical examination.

2 . The system of claim 1 , wherein at least one of:

at least some of the plurality of binding quotes are based upon the health profile of the consumer and based upon one or more preferred insurance policy terms indicated by the prioritization; or

the selection by the system of the one of the plurality of binding quotes is based upon the one or more preferred insurance policy terms indicated by the prioritization.

3 . The system of claim 2 , wherein the one or more preferred insurance policy terms include at least one of: an amount of a premium payment, a term length, an insurance provider rating, a desired type of insurance, a payout amount, an annuity amount, a settlement option, or another insurance policy term.

4 - 5 . (canceled)

6 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the medical diagnostic examination performed on the consumer (i) includes at least one invasive procedure and/or (ii) is included in an annual physical examination of the consumer.

7 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the indication of the assent of the consumer includes an indication of permission to release medical information of the consumer.

8 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the particular computer-executable instructions are further executable to cause the system to receive, via the one or more networks, an indication that the selected binding quote has been bound by the insurance provider.

9 . The system of claim 8 , wherein the particular computer-executable instructions are further executable to cause the system to initiate at least one of a refund or a credit from the particular insurance provider to the consumer corresponding to a cost of the medical diagnostic examination performed on the consumer upon receiving the indication that the selected binding quote has been bound.

10 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the health profile of the consumer is (i) an initial indication of the health of the consumer that is received by the respective insurance provider computing systems, and (ii) is a trigger for the respective insurance provider computing systems to automatically generate the plurality of binding quotes.

11 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the one or more insurance policies include at least one of a life insurance policy, a long-term care insurance policy, or a disability insurance policy.

12 . A computer-implemented method for providing insurance based upon medical diagnostic examinations via an electronic or communications network, the method comprising:

determining, via one or more processors, a health profile of a consumer based upon results of a medical diagnostic examination that has been performed on a consumer by a medical diagnostic provider without prompting the consumer to provide partial personal health information, the one or more processors included in a system that is operated and/or provided by the medical diagnostic provider, and the system including one or more data storage devices storing the results of the medical diagnostic examination that has been performed on the consumer by the medical diagnostic provider, wherein the medical diagnostic examination includes at least one invasive procedure;

prompting, via the one or more processors, the consumer to provide a prioritization of insurance policy terms;

receiving, via the one or more processors, the prioritization from the consumer;

providing, via one or more network interfaces of the system to the electronic or communications network, and based upon an indication of an assent of the consumer, the health profile of the consumer and the prioritization to respective computing systems of a plurality of insurance providers;

receiving, from the plurality of insurance provider computing systems via the one or more network interfaces to the electronic or communications network, a plurality of binding quotes for one or more insurance policies, each of the one or more insurance policies being for a type of insurance that requires a medical diagnostic examination to be performed on a potential insured party, and wherein the consumer has been determined to be an eligible insured party for the each of the one or more insurance policies based upon the health profile of the consumer and the prioritization;

determining, by the one or more processors, a selection of one of the plurality of binding quotes including:

transmitting, to a mobile device of the consumer via the one or more network interfaces, a single indication of the plurality of binding quotes; and

receiving, from the mobile device via the one or more network interfaces, the selection of one of the plurality of binding quotes; and

providing, via the one or more network interfaces and the electronic or communications network to a particular computing system of a particular insurance provider from which the selected binding quote was received, an indication that the one of the plurality of binding quotes was selected.

13 . The computer-implemented method of claim 12 , wherein the prioritization includes an indication of at least one or more preferred insurance policy terms, the one or more preferred insurance policy terms including at least one of: an amount of a premium payment, a term length, an insurance provider rating, a desired type of insurance, a payout amount, an annuity amount, a settlement option, or another insurance policy term.

14 . The computer-implemented method of claim 13 :
