Abstract

A golf ball of one aspect of the present invention includes a spherical core, one or more cover members to cover the core, and a coating layer to coat a cover member configuring an outermost layer of the one or more cover members. A plurality of dimples is formed in the cover member of the outermost layer. Roughness is produced on a surface of the coating layer after applying a coat over the cover member of the outermost layer. An average value Fa (mm) of maximum depths of the plurality of dimples and arithmetic average roughness Ra (μm) on the surface of the coating layer, satisfy a relational expression: −1.5× Fa +0.8 ≦Ra ≦−1.5× Fa +1.8.

Claims (21)

1. A golf ball comprising:

a spherical core;

one or more cover members to cover the core; and

a coating layer to coat a cover member configuring an outermost layer of the one or more cover members,

wherein:

a plurality of dimples being formed in the cover member of the outermost layer,

roughness being produced on a surface of the coating layer after applying a coat over the cover member of the outermost layer, and

an average value Fa (mm) of maximum depths of the plurality of dimples and arithmetic average roughness Ra (μm) on the surface of the coating layer, satisfy a relational expression:

−1.5× Fa+ 0.8≦ Ra≦− 1.5× Fa+ 1.8,

wherein the arithmetic average roughness Ra is equal to or larger than 0.6 μm and equal to or smaller than 0.9 μm, and

the average value Fa is equal to or larger than 0.22 mm and equal to or smaller than 0.31 mm.

2. The golf ball according to claim 1 , wherein the roughness on the surface of the coating layer is acquired by a surface treatment of spraying fine particles over the surface.

3. A method for manufacturing a golf ball, comprising:

a step of forming a spherical core;

a step of covering the core with one or more cover members, and forming a plurality of dimples in a cover member configuring an outermost layer of the one or more cover members;

a step of coating the cover member of the outermost layer with a coating layer; and

a step of producing roughness on a surface of the coating layer,

wherein an average value Fa (mm) of maximum depths of the plurality of dimples to be formed and arithmetic average roughness Ra (μm) on the surface of the coating layer, satisfy a relational expression:

−1.5× Fa+ 0.8≦ Ra≦− 1.5× Fa+ 1.8,

wherein the arithmetic average roughness Ra is equal to or larger than 0.6 μm and equal to or smaller than 0.9 μm, and

the average value Fa is equal to or larger than 0.22 mm and equal to or smaller than 0.31 mm.
