Security system and alarm activation control

1. A method comprising:

receiving a motion signal indicating motion of a free-to-roam entity in a monitored location;

receiving a disarm signal indicating presence of a disarming device in the monitored location;

analyzing a timing of the motion signal with respect to the disarm signal; and

selectively activating a respective motion alarm depending upon the timing of the motion signal with respect to the disarm signal.

2. The method as in claim 1 , wherein selectively activating the respective motion alarm depending upon the timing of the motion signal with respect to the disarm signal further comprises:

temporarily delaying activation of the respective motion alarm subsequent to detecting that the motion signal indicates motion of the free-to-roam entity;

during the temporary delay of activating the respective motion alarm, monitoring the disarm signal for presence of the disarming device.

3. The method as in claim 2 further comprising:

preventing activation of the respective motion alarm in response to detecting presence of the disarming device in the monitored location within a predetermined threshold amount of time of detecting that the motion signal indicates motion of the free-to-roam entity.

4. The method as in claim 1 , wherein selectively activating the respective alarm depending upon the timing further comprises:

preventing activation of the respective motion alarm for a predetermined amount of time after detecting both: i) a transition from presence to absence of the disarming device in the monitored location as indicated by the disarm signal, and ii) motion of the free-to-roam entity as indicated by the motion signal.

5. The method as in claim 1 , wherein analyzing the timing of the motion signal with respect to the disarm signal further comprises:

detecting that the motion signal indicates motion of the free-to-roam entity at a first instance in time;

detecting that the disarm signal indicates presence of the disarming device at a second instance in time, the first instance in time occurring before the second instance in time.

6. The method as in claim 5 , wherein selectively activating the respective motion alarm depending upon the timing of the motion signal with respect to the disarm signal further comprises:

temporarily delaying activation of the respective motion alarm subsequent to detecting that the motion signal indicating motion of the free-to-roam entity at the first instance in time.

7. The method as in claim 6 , wherein selectively activating the respective alarm depending upon the timing further comprises:

preventing activation of the respective motion alarm in response to detecting that the disarm signal indicates presence of the disarming device at the second instance in time even though the motion of the free-to-roam entity was detected at the first instance in time.

8. The method as in claim 1 , wherein selectively activating the respective alarm depending upon the timing further comprises:

preventing activation of the respective motion alarm in response to detecting that the motion signal indicates motion of the free-to-roam entity after but within a predetermined threshold amount of time at which the disarm signal transitions from indicating presence of the disarming device to absence of the disarming device in the monitored location.

9. The method as in claim 1 further comprising:

receiving a unique code assigned to the disarming device; and

utilizing the unique code to identity an identity of a user utilizing the disarming device.

10. The method as in claim 1 , wherein selectively activating the respective motion alarm depending upon the timing of the motion signal with respect to the disarm signal further comprises:

at times of detecting movement of the free-to-roam entity and presence of the disarming device to deactivate the respective motion alarm at the monitored location as indicated by the disarming signal, initiating activation of the respective motion alarm.

11. A method comprising:

detecting motion of a free-to-roam entity in a monitored location;

detecting presence of a disarming device in the monitored location, the presence of the disarming device detected based upon receipt of a disarm signal from the disarming device indicating to disarm a respective motion alarm; and

at times of detecting motion of the free-to-roam entity in the monitored location, initiating activation of the respective motion alarm even though the disarming device is detected as being present in the monitored location.

12. The method as in claim 11 further comprising:

processing time information associated with the disarming device; and

initiating activation of the respective motion alarm in response to detecting that the motion of the free-to-roam entity is detected outside a time range as specified by the time information.

13. The method as in claim 11 further comprising:

initiating activation of the respective motion alarm at other times when the disarming device is detected as being absent from the monitored location and there is motion detected at the location.

14. The method as in claim 11 , wherein detecting presence of the disarming device includes:

receiving a wireless disarm signal generated by the disarming device, the wireless disarm signal received independent of a detected motion signal indicating movement of the free-to-roam at the monitored location, the wireless disarm signal indicating to prevent activation of the respective motion alarm of the security system even though the movement of the free-to-roam entity is detected at the monitored location.

15. A computer system comprising:

computer processor hardware; and

a hardware storage resource coupled to the computer processor hardware, the hardware storage resource storing instructions that, when executed by the computer processor hardware, causes the computer processor hardware to perform operations of:

initially arming a security system to activate an alarm in response to detecting motion of free-to-roam entities in a monitored location;

monitoring the location for a disarming device attached to a given free-to-roam entity, the disarming device transmitting a signal to the security system to disarm the security system; and

at times of detecting movement of the given free-to-roam entity and presence of the disarming device at the monitored location, preventing activation of the alarm.

16. The computer system as in claim 15 in which the computer processor hardware further performs operations of:

initiating activation of the alarm in response to detecting motion of the given free-to-roam entity and that a time of detecting the motion falls outside a time range as specified by time information assigned to the given free-to-roam entity.

17. The computer system as in claim 16 in which the computer processor hardware further performs operations of:

receiving a unique code assigned to the disarming device; and

utilizing the unique code to obtain the time information associated with the disarming device.

18. The computer system as in claim 15 in which the computer processor hardware further performs operations of:

at other times in which the security system detects presence of the disarming device at the monitored location outside a time range as specified by the time information, initiating activation of the alarm in response to detecting motion of the given free-to-roam entity in the monitored location.

19. The computer system as in claim 18 in which the computer processor hardware further performs operations of:

receiving current time from a real-time clock; and

initiating the activation of the alarm in response to detecting motion at the monitored location and that the current time falls within the time range as specified by the time information.

20. Computer-readable hardware storage having instructions stored thereon, the instructions, when carried out by computer processor hardware, causes the computer processor hardware to perform operations of:

receiving a motion signal indicating motion of a free-to-roam entity in a monitored location;

receiving a disarm signal indicating presence of a disarming device in the monitored location;

analyzing a timing of the motion signal with respect to the disarm signal; and

selectively activating a respective motion alarm depending upon the timing relation of the motion signal with respect to the disarm signal.

21. A method comprising:

initially arming a security system to activate an alarm in response to detecting motion of free-to-roam entities in a monitored location;

monitoring the location for a disarming device; and

at times of detecting presence of the disarming device at the monitored location, preventing activation of the alarm.

22. The method as in claim 21 , wherein the free-to-roam entities have unrestricted access into the monitored location, the method further comprising:

continuously monitoring the location for the presence of the disarming device;

detecting motion of a free-to-roam entity at the monitored location; and

even though the motion is detected as being present at the monitored location, preventing activation of the alarm at the times in which the disarming device is detected as being present at the monitored location.

23. The method as in claim 22 further comprising:

initiating activation of the alarm at other times when the disarming device is detected as being absent from the monitored location and there is motion detected at the location.

24. The method as in claim 21 , wherein detecting presence of the disarming device includes:

receiving a wireless disarm signal generated by the disarming device, the wireless disarm signal received independent of a detected motion signal indicating movement of an object at the monitored location, the wireless disarm signal indicating to prevent activation of the alarm of the security system even though the movement of the object is detected as the monitored location.

25. The method as in claim 21 further comprising:

while the alarm of the corresponding security system is armed:

subsequent to detecting movement of an object at the location, delaying audible activation of the alarm to determine whether the disarming device is present at the location.

26. The method as in claim 21 further comprising:

subsequent to arming the alarm of the corresponding security system, detecting movement of an object at the location while the alarm is armed; and

prior to audibly activating the alarm in response to detecting the movement, transmitting a wireless query in the location to determine whether the disarming device is present at the location.

27. The method as in claim 26 , wherein detecting presence of the disarming device includes:

receiving a wireless response signal from the disarming device, the disarming device generating the wireless response signal in response to receiving the wireless query.
