VIBRATION DAMPENING MATERIAL
The present invention provides a material that in at least one embodiment comprises a composite vibration dissipating and isolating material including first and second elastomer layers. A reinforcement layer is disposed between and generally separates the first and second elastomer layers.
1 . A case for a portable electronic device comprising:
a panel sized to cover a major surface of the portable electronic device; and
padding coupled to at least a portion of the panel, the padding comprising an elastomer material and a fibrous material embedded within the elastomer material.
2 . The case of claim 1 , wherein the portable electronic device is a cell phone.
3 . The case of claim 1 , wherein the padding is coupled to a portion of the panel facing the portable electronic device when the portable electronic device is in the case.
4 . The case of claim 1 , wherein the elastomer material comprises polyurethane.
5 . The case of claim 1 , wherein the fibrous material comprises aramid material.
6 . The case of claim 5 , wherein the aramid material comprises chopped aramid fibers.
7 . The case of claim 1 , wherein the fibrous material comprises particles of fibrous material.
8 . The case of claim 7 , wherein the particles comprise particles of aramid material.
9 . A case for a portable electronic device comprising:
a rigid outer layer sized to cover a major surface of the portable electronic device; and
padding coupled to at least a portion of the rigid outer layer such that the padding faces the portable electronic device when the portable electronic device is in the case, the padding comprising an elastomer material and a plurality of particles embedded within the elastomer material.
10 . The case of claim 9 , wherein the elastomer material comprises polyurethane.
11 . The case of claim 9 , wherein the particles comprise particles of fibrous material.
12 . The case of claim 9 , wherein the particles comprise particles of aramid material.
13 . The case of claim 12 , wherein the particles further comprise particles of elastomer material.
