Abstract

A mast and integral display mount for a material handling vehicle are shown. The mast mounts a locating apparatus such that a locating axis of the locating apparatus is coaxial with a steering axis of the steerable drive wheel of the material handling vehicle. An integral display mount may include a display unit and display screen housed in a display housing that is integral with the steering handle of the vehicle. The integral nature of the display mount allows the display unit to move with the steering handle during steering of the vehicle.

Claims (18)

1. An integrated display mount for a material handling vehicle including a steering mechanism with a steering handle, the integrated display mount comprising:

a display unit in electrical communication with a source of electrical power, the display unit including a display screen; and

a display housing that houses the display unit, the display housing being integrated with the steering mechanism of the material handling vehicle such that the display housing moves with the steering mechanism during steering operation of the material handling vehicle wherein the display unit is a navigation module interface that accepts control inputs and sensory inputs from a locating apparatus that provides locational sensing and navigation capabilities to automatically guide the material handling vehicle.

2. The integrated display mount of claim 1 , wherein the display housing is integrated with the steering handle.

3. The integrated display mount of claim 1 , wherein the display housing is angled with respect to the steering mechanism to facilitate viewing of the display screen during operation of the material handling vehicle.

4. The integrated display mount of claim 1 , wherein the display housing and the steering mechanism are synchronously vertically adjustable with respect to the material handling vehicle.

5. The integrated display mount of claim 1 , wherein the steering mechanism includes a pivot arm that can pivot with respect to the material handling vehicle, the display housing being coupled to the pivot arm such that the integrated display pivots laterally with the pivot arm.

6. The integrated display mount of claim 5 , wherein the display housing can pivot with respect to the pivot arm, such that the display screen and steering handle stay parallel to an operator cabinet on the material handling vehicle.

7. The integrated display mount of claim 1 , wherein the display unit displays information regarding functionality of the material handling vehicle and at least one of warehouse management system applications and fleet management information.

8. A display mount for a material handling vehicle including a steering mechanism with a steering handle, the display mount comprising:

a display unit in electrical communication with a source of electrical power, the display unit including a display screen; and

a display housing that houses the display unit, the display housing being rotatably coupled to the steering mechanism of the material handling vehicle such that the display housing is positionable independent of the steering mechanism and moves with the steering mechanism during steering operation of the material handling vehicle; wherein the display unit is a navigation module interface that accepts control inputs and sensory inputs from a locating apparatus that provides locational sensing and navigation capabilities to automatically guide the material handling vehicle.

9. The display mount of claim 8 , wherein the display housing is directly coupled to a pivot arm of the steering mechanism.

10. The display mount of claim 9 , wherein the display housing is rotatably coupled to the pivot arm.

11. The display mount of claim 8 , wherein the display unit displays information regarding functionality of the material handling vehicle and at least one of warehouse management system applications and fleet management information.

12. A display mount for a material handling vehicle including a steering mechanism with a steering handle, the display mount comprising:

a display unit in electrical communication with a source of electrical power, the display unit including a display screen; and

a display housing that houses the display unit, the display housing being directly coupled to a pivot arm of the steering mechanism of the material handling vehicle such that the display housing is rotatably and translatably positionable independent of the steering mechanism and moves with the steering mechanism during steering operation of the material handling vehicle; wherein the display unit is a navigation module interface that accepts control inputs and sensory inputs from a locating apparatus that provides locational sensing and navigation capabilities to automatically guide the material handling vehicle.
