Abstract

According to one embodiment, A display device includes a first substrate includes an inorganic insulating film, a first wiring formed above the inorganic insulating film, an organic insulating film located above the inorganic insulating film and the first wiring, and a driver electrically connected to the first wiring, a second substrate opposing the first substrate, and a sealant fixing the first substrate and the second substrate, wherein the sealant comprises a first seal portion formed along a first edge of the first substrate and a second seal portion which crosses the first seal portion, and the first seal portion has a first width, and the second seal portion has a second width, the first width being greater than the second width.

Claims (20)

1. A display device comprising:

a first substrate comprising an inorganic insulating film, a first wiring formed above the inorganic insulating film, an organic insulating film located above the inorganic insulating film and the first wiring, and a driver electrically connected to the first wiring;

a second substrate opposing the first substrate; and

a sealant fixing the first substrate and the second substrate,

wherein the sealant comprises a first seal portion formed along a first end of the first substrate and a second seal portion which crosses the first seal portion, and the first seal portion has a first width, and the second seal portion has a second width, the first width being greater than the second width, and

wherein the organic insulating film comprises:

a first groove portion made through to the inorganic insulating film and extending along the first seal portion in a region where the first groove portion overlaps the first seal portion,

a second groove portion made through to the inorganic insulating film and extending along the second seal portion in a region where the second groove portion overlaps the second seal portion, and

a removed area connected with the first groove portion and the second groove portion, and extending to a position where the removed area opposes a second end of the second substrate in a crossing portion where the first seal portion and the second seal portion cross each other.

2. The display device of claim 1 , wherein the first width is 1.5 to 2.5 times the second width.

3. The display device of claim 1 , wherein the removed area is formed into a triangle comprising an oblique side.

4. The display device of claim 3 , wherein the first wiring is formed along the second groove portion and an oblique side is formed along the first wiring.

5. The display device of claim 4 , wherein the first wiring is an outermost circumferential wiring arranged at an outermost circumference of the first substrate, and a distance from an end of the first wiring on a second groove side to an end of the organic insulating film, which faces the second groove portion, is 10 μm or more.

6. The display device of claim 4 , wherein the first groove portion crosses the first wiring.

7. The display device of claim 1 , further comprising a spacer interposed between the first substrate and the second substrate in a region where an end of the first substrate and an end of the second substrate oppose each other.

8. The display device of claim 3 , wherein an island portion is formed by the organic insulating film in the removed area.

9. The display device of claim 1 , wherein the first substrate comprises a mount unit between the first end and the second end, and the driver is located in the mount unit.

10. The display device of claim 1 , wherein the removed area overlaps the first seal portion.

11. The display device of claim 1 , wherein the removed area extends to a position where the removed area does not overlap the second substrate.

12. The display device of claim 1 , where the sealant is in contact with both the inorganic insulating film and the organic insulating film.
