Abstract

The present invention relates to a device for removing delivery member shields which are intended to cover and protect delivery members, said device comprising a remover body arranged to accommodate a delivery member in its interior. The invention is characterized in that the remover body comprises at least two sets of gripping members extending into its interior and wherein each set of gripping members is configured for gripping a certain type of delivery member shield.

Claims (18)

1. A device for removing a delivery member shield configured to cover and protect a medicament delivery member, comprising:

a remover body configured to be positioned within a medicament delivery device and having an interior sized to accept a delivery member shield, the remover body having an inner circumferential surface with a radius of curvature, where the inner circumferential surface has a set of cut-out through holes, where each cut-out through hole has an attachment section integral with and having the same radius of curvature as the inner circumferential surface, where the attachment section forms a flexible distal end of a gripping member extending into the interior, where each gripping member associated with each cut-out through hole is formed from the same material of construction as the remover body,

wherein each gripping member comprises:

a tongue section integral with the flexible distal end, where the tongue terminates at a proximal end to form two shoulder sections, where the attachment section, the tongue and the shoulder sections each lie in a common plane and have the same radius of curvature as the inner circumferential surface; and

a pointed sharp section integral with the shoulder sections, where the pointed sharp section is narrower than the tongue and the shoulder sections,

wherein the shoulder sections have a specific structural configuration that will abut the delivery member shield to allow only the pointed sharp section to be pushed into the delivery member shield during removal of the delivery member shield.

2. The device of claim 1 further characterized in that the attachment section allows for a flexing action in a generally radial direction with reduced force requirements is obtained when the remover body engages the delivery member shield with the medicament delivery device.

3. The device according to claim 1 , wherein the remover body is an elongated generally tubular body having proximal and distal ends and comprising outer circumferential surface and the set of gripping members is arranged in an annular form on the inner circumferential surface of the remover body and wherein the set of gripping members is formed as a number of elongated members extending into the interior of the remover body at a predetermined angle in relation to a longitudinal axis of the device and towards the proximal end of the remover body.

4. The device of claim 1 further comprising:

a cap; and

a lid piece comprising inner and outer circumferential surfaces, where the remover body is directly attached to the lid piece through engagement with the inner circumferential surface.

5. The device according to claim 4 , wherein the cap and the lid piece are fixedly connected to each other through a circumferentially extending cut-out configured to interact with radially extending protrusions of a tubular part of the lid piece.

6. The device according to claim 5 , wherein the lid piece and the remover body are configured to be fixedly connected to each other and the lid piece comprises a circumferential groove configured to interact with a circumferential ledge or protrusion of the remover body.

7. The device according to claim 5 , wherein the cap has a general tubular shape having two openings, one of the two openings being a proximal opening positioned at a proximal end of the cap and the other of the two openings being a distal opening positioned at a distal end of the cap and wherein each of the two openings is parallel to a plane which is perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the device.

8. The device according to claim 7 , wherein the remover body is configured to pass through the proximal opening of the cap after the remover body is fixedly connected to the lid piece such that the tubular part of the lid piece is fitted into the proximal opening.

9. The device according to claim 1 , is part of a medicament delivery device according to claim 1 .

10. The device according to claim 9 wherein the medicament delivery device is an injection device.

11. The device according to claim 9 wherein the injection device is a pen injector or an auto-injector.
