Abstract

The invention relates to a solid compressed lubricating member for a razor cartridge comprising from 10% to 90% by weight of a particulate material comprising water soluble polymer and from 12% to 40% by weight of a hydrophobic compound or mixtures thereof; wherein at least a portion of said water soluble polymer particulate is spray coated with said hydrophobic compound and methods of manufacture thereof.

Claims (21)

1 . A solid compressed lubricating member for a razor cartridge comprising:

i) from 10% to 90% by weight of a particulate material comprising a water soluble polymer

ii) from 12% to 40% by weight of a hydrophobic compound or mixtures thereof;

wherein at least a portion of said water soluble polymer is spray coated with said hydrophobic compound.

2 . The solid compressed lubricating member for a razor cartridge according to claim 1 , wherein said lubricating member comprises from 12% to 30% by weight of said hydrophobic compound.

3 . The solid compressed lubricating member for a razor cartridge according to claim 1 , wherein said hydrophobic compound or mixtures thereof are selected from the group consisting of natural, synthetic and silicone oils and or waxes and mixtures thereof; trigylcerides, skin active agents, sensates and mixtures thereof.

4 . The solid compressed lubricating member for a razor cartridge according to claim 1 , wherein said hydrophobic compound or mixtures thereof comprises capric and or caprylic triglycerides, grape seed oil, olive oil, phenylated silicones, shea butter, cocoa butter, lanolin, essential oils, peppermint oil, isohexadecane, petrolatum, dimethicones and or mixtures thereof.

5 . The solid compressed lubricating member for a razor cartridge according to claim 1 , wherein said hydrophobic compound has a water solubility of 1 part to 1000 parts or greater, preferably 10000 parts or greater of water.

6 . The solid compressed lubricating member for a razor cartridge according to claim 1 , wherein said hydrophobic compound has a melting point of less than 45° C., preferably less than 40° C., more preferably less than 30° C., most preferably 25° C. or less.

7 . The solid compressed lubricating member for a razor cartridge according to claim 1 , wherein said water soluble polymer comprises a polyethylene oxide polymer.

8 . The solid compressed lubricating member for a razor cartridge according to claim 1 , wherein at least 95%, preferably substantially 100% of said water soluble polymer particulate is spray coated with said hydrophobic compound.

9 . The solid cold compressed lubricating member for a razor cartridge according to claim 1 , wherein said lubricating member has a bulk density of 1000 kg/m 3 to 1200 Kg/m 3 .

10 . The solid compressed lubricating member for a razor cartridge according to claim 1 , wherein said particulate has an average particle size of from 50 microns to 1250 microns.

11 . The solid compressed lubricating member for a razor cartridge according to claim 1 , in the form of a tablet.

12 . The method of manufacturing a lubricating member according to claim 1 , comprising the steps of:

a) providing a particulate of said water soluble polymer,

b) spray coating said hydrophobic compound onto said water soluble polymer particulates, and

c) applying pressure onto said spray coated particulates to form a tablet.

13 . The method according to claim 12 , further comprising the steps of forming a liquid of said hydrophobic compound prior to said spray coating step.

14 . The method according to claim 12 , further comprising the steps of filling a preform with said particulates prior to the application of pressure at 25° C. and removing said compressed form from said preform.

15 . The hair removal cartridge for a shaving razor comprising a lubricating member according to claim 1 .
