Abstract

A computer-implemented method monitors a video-based graphic. The method includes displaying a video-based graphic. A position of a pointer interaction is monitored. The method includes determining a designation of a pixel of the video-based graphic at a location of the pointer interaction. An action is performed based on the designation of the pixel of the video-based graphic at a location of the pointer interaction.

Claims (46)

1. A method comprising:

displaying, with a display device, a video-based graphic;

displaying, with the display device, other content, the other content at least partially obstructed by the video-based graphic;

receiving, by a processor, a pointer interaction with the video-based graphic;

determining, by the processor, a location of the pointer interaction with the video-based graphic;

determining, by the processor, a transparency designation of a pixel of the video-based graphic at a location of the video-based graphic corresponding to the location of the pointer interaction;

determining whether the transparency designation of the pixel of the video-based graphic corresponds to a negative interaction with the video-based graphic; and

providing access to the other content displayed with the display device in response to determining that the transparency designation of the pixel of the video-based graphic corresponds to a negative interaction with the video-based graphic.

The method of claim 1 wherein determining that the transparency designation of the pixel of the video-based graphic corresponds to a negative interaction with the video-based graphic further comprises determining that the transparency designation of the pixel indicates that the pixel is more transparent than a transparency threshold.

3. The method of claim 1 wherein providing access to the other content displayed with the display device further comprises enabling at least one of viewing, scrolling, or interacting with the other content.

4. The method of claim 1 wherein providing access to the other content displayed with the display device further comprises closing the video-based graphic.

5. The method of claim 1 further comprising:

determining whether the transparency designation of the pixel of the video-based graphic corresponds to a positive interaction with the video-based graphic; and

displaying, with the display device, additional information related to the video-based graphic in response to determining that the transparency designation of the pixel of the video-based graphic corresponds to a positive interaction with the video-based graphic.

6. The method of claim 1 further comprising:

receiving a request from a user to view the other content, wherein the other content comprises a web page.

7. An apparatus comprising:

a display device configured to:

display a video-based graphic; and

display other content, the other content at least partially obstructed by the video-based graphic;

a user input device; and

a processor coupled to the display device and the user input device, the processor configured to:

receive a pointer interaction with the video-based graphic via the user interface;

determine a location of the pointer interaction with the video-based graphic;

determine a transparency designation of a pixel of the video-based graphic at a location of the video-based graphic corresponding to the location of the pointer interaction;

determine whether the transparency designation of the pixel of the video-based graphic corresponds to a negative interaction with the video-based graphic; and

provide access to the other content displayed with the display device in response to determining that the transparency designation of the pixel of the video-based graphic corresponds to a negative interaction with the video-based graphic.

The apparatus of claim 7 wherein the processor is configured to determine that the transparency designation of the pixel of the video-based graphic corresponds to a negative interaction with the video-based graphic by determining that the transparency designation of the pixel indicates that the pixel is more transparent than a transparency threshold.

9. The apparatus of claim 7 wherein the processor is configured to provide access to the other content displayed with the display device by enabling at least one of viewing, scrolling, or interacting with the other content.

10. The apparatus of claim 7 wherein the processor is configured to provide access to the other content displayed with the display device by closing the video-based graphic.

11. The apparatus of claim 7 wherein the processor is further configured to:

determine whether the transparency designation of the pixel of the video-based graphic corresponds to a positive interaction with the video-based graphic; and

display, via the display device, additional information related to the video-based graphic in response to determining that the transparency designation of the pixel of the video-based graphic corresponds to a positive interaction with the video-based graphic.

12. The apparatus of claim 7 wherein the processor is further configured to receive, via the user interface device, a request from a user to view the other content, wherein the other content comprises a web page.

13. A method comprising:

displaying, with a display device, a video-based graphic;

receiving, by a processor, a pointer interaction with the video-based graphic;

determining, by the processor, a location of the pointer interaction with the video-based graphic;

determining, by the processor, a transparency designation of a pixel of the video-based graphic at a location of the video-based graphic corresponding to the location of the pointer interaction;

determining whether the transparency designation of the pixel of the video-based graphic indicates that the pixel is more transparent than a transparency threshold; and

providing access to other content obscured by the video-based graphic in response to determining that the transparency designation of the pixel of the video-based graphic indicates that the pixel is more transparent than a transparency threshold.

14. The method of claim 13 wherein providing access to the other content further comprises enabling at least one of viewing, scrolling, or interacting with the other content.

15. The method of claim 13 wherein providing access to the other content further comprises closing the video-based graphic.

16. The method of claim 13 further comprising:

determining whether the transparency designation of the pixel of the video-based graphic indicates that the pixel is less transparent than a transparency threshold; and

displaying, with the display device, additional information related to the video-based graphic in response to determining that the transparency designation of the pixel of the video-based graphic indicates that the pixel is less transparent than the transparency threshold.
