Abstract

Provided are methods for treating breast cancer in a patient by administering effective amounts of liposomal irinotecan sucrosofate (MM-398). The breast cancer may be triple negative breast cancer (TNBC), estrogen receptor/progesterone receptor (ER/PR) positive breast cancer, ER-positive breast cancer, or PR-positive breast cancer, or metastatic breast cancer.

Claims (6)

1 . A method of treating cancer in a patient having a tumor lesion with a ferumoxytol tumor lesion uptake of at least 32.6 mcg/mL one hour after intravenous administration of 5 mg/kg intravenous ferumoxytol up to a maximum dose of 510 mg total ferumoxytol, the method comprising intravenous administration of irinotecan in a MM-398 irinotecan liposome in an amount effective to administer the amount of irinotecan present in a 80 mg/m2 dose of irinotecan hydrochloride trihydrate.

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the cancer comprises a tumor retaining ferumoxytol.

3 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the tumor is a metastatic tumor in the patient having a cancer selected from the group consisting of: NSCLC, CRC, TNBC, ER/PR positive breast cancer, pancreatic cancer, ovarian cancer, gastric cancer, gastro-esophageal junction adenocarcinoma, and head and neck cancer.

4 . The method of claim 3 , wherein the patient has a lesion retaining ferumoxytol in the liver, a lymph nodes or a peritoneal sites.

5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the patient has a ferumoxytol accumulation of at least 34.5 mg/mL 24 hours after the intravenous administration of the ferumoxytol.

6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the patient has HER2 positive breast cancer, and the ferumoxytol is present in an additional, metastatic lesion.
