Abstract

An apparatus for receiving signals includes a receiver for receiving a time domain signal from a transmitter, wherein at least one first information bit is mapped, resulting in at least one first mapped symbol; at least one second information bit is mapped, resulting in at least one second mapped symbol; the at least one second mapped symbol is multiplied by at least one third information bit; and the time domain signal is generated from the at least one first mapped symbol and the at least one second mapped symbol.

Claims (22)

1. A method of transmitting signals to a receiver by a transmitter, the method comprising:

mapping at least one first information bit to at least one first constellation, resulting in at least one first symbol;

mapping at least one second information bit to at least one second constellation, resulting in at least one second symbol;

mapping at least one third information bit to at least one third constellation, resulting in at least one third symbol,

wherein the at least one second symbol is combined with the at least one third symbol;

transforming the at least one first symbol, which is not combined with the at least one third symbol, and the at least one second symbol, which is combined with the at least one third symbol, into a time domain signal,

wherein the at least one first symbol precedes the at least one second symbol in a time domain;

inserting a cyclic prefix into the time domain signal; and

transmitting the time domain signal which includes the inserted cyclic prefix.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the at least one second symbol and the at least one third symbol are transmitted through the same subcarrier.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the at least one second constellation is different from the at least one third constellation.

4. An apparatus for transmitting signals to a receiver, the apparatus comprising:

a first constellation mapper for mapping at least one first information bit to at least one first constellation, resulting in at least one first symbol;

a second constellation mapper for mapping at least one second information bit to at least one second constellation, resulting in at least one second symbol;

a third constellation mapper for mapping at least one third information bit to at least one third constellation, resulting in at least one third symbol,

wherein the at least one second symbol is combined with the at least one third symbol;

a transformer for transforming the at least one first symbol, which is not combined with the at least one third symbol, and the at least one second symbol, which is combined with the at least one third symbol, into a time domain signal,

wherein the at least one first symbol precedes the at least one second symbol in a time domain;

an inserter for inserting a cyclic prefix into the time domain signal; and

a transmitting unit for transmitting the time domain signal which includes the inserted cyclic prefix.

5. The apparatus of claim 4 , wherein the at least one second symbol and the at least one third symbol are transmitted through the same subcarrier.

6. The apparatus of claim 4 , wherein the at least one second constellation is different from the at least one third constellation.
