Abstract

A retractable curtain system is provided and includes a curtain support system, a curtain, and a retraction system. The curtain support system includes a pair of outer walls and an upper frame to provide a curtain receiving space. The curtain covers the curtain receiving space and includes a first non-transparent panel and transparent panel connected to the first non-transparent panel. The retraction system is connected to the curtain to lower and raise the transparent panel.

Claims (35)

1. A retractable curtain system, comprising:

a curtain support system having a pair of outer walls and an upper frame that define a curtain receiving space;

a curtain capable of covering an entirety of the curtain receiving space and having:

(a) an upper curtain support at a first end of the curtain,

(b) a first non-transparent panel connected to the upper curtain support,

(c) a transparent panel extended horizontally and directly welded to the first non-transparent panel, and

(d) a lower curtain support supported by the curtain and positioned at a second and opposite end of the curtain; and

a retraction system connected to the curtain to lower and raise the transparent panel vertically across the curtain receiving space, and configured to roll and unroll the curtain about the lower curtain support.

2. The retractable curtain system according to claim 1 , wherein the curtain further includes a second non-transparent panel connected to the transparent panel and positioned opposite the first non-transparent panel.

3. The retractable curtain system according to claim 2 , wherein the transparent panel is horizontally positioned between the first non-transparent panel and the second non-transparent panel.

4. The retractable curtain system according to claim 3 , wherein the first non-transparent panel is a rectangular section of material positioned along an upper half of the curtain.

5. The retractable curtain system according to claim 4 , wherein the transparent panel is a rectangular section of material having a light transmittance greater than 90%.

6. The retractable curtain system according to claim 3 , wherein the upper curtain support is secured to the first non-transparent panel and the lower curtain support is secured to the second non-transparent panel.

7. The retractable curtain system according to claim 6 , wherein the retraction system further includes a lifting mechanism having a winch and a hoisting cable connected to the curtain for raising and lowering the curtain.

8. The retractable curtain system according to claim 7 , wherein the retraction system further includes an upper support rod positioned on the upper frame and supporting the hoisting cable.

9. The retractable curtain system according to claim 8 , wherein the retraction system further includes a pair of outer support rods positioned along the pair of outer walls and configured to direct raising and lowering of the lower curtain support.

10. The retractable curtain system according to claim 9 , further comprising a pair of rolling mechanisms having a set of rollers positioned around and corresponding to the pair of outer support rods and connected to the lower curtain support.

11. The retractable curtain system according to claim 10 , further comprising a winding device connected to and configured to rotate the lower curtain support.

12. The retractable curtain system according to claim 11 , wherein the winding device is connected to one of the pair of rolling mechanisms along one side of the pair of outer support rods.

13. The retractable curtain system according to claim 12 , wherein the winding device is a roll-up mechanism for winding up the curtain about the lower curtain support.

14. The retractable curtain system according to claim 1 , wherein the first non-transparent panel and the transparent panel are each formed of a plastic material.

15. The retractable curtain system according to claim 1 , wherein the first non-transparent panel is translucent.

16. A retractable curtain system, comprising:

a curtain support system having a pair of outer walls and an upper frame that define a curtain receiving space;

a curtain capable of covering an entirety of the curtain receiving space and having:

(a) an upper curtain support at a first end of the curtain,

(b) a first non-transparent panel supported by the upper curtain support,

(c) a transparent panel directly welded at a seam to the first non-transparent panel, the seam extending horizontally, and

(d) a lower curtain support positioned at a second and opposite end of the curtain away from the upper curtain support, the curtain configured to be retracted by being rolled about the lower curtain support;

a lifting mechanism connected to the upper curtain support to lower and raise the upper curtain support; and

a retraction system connected to the lower curtain support to roll and unroll the curtain from the second end thereof.

17. The retractable curtain system according to claim 16 , wherein the curtain further includes a second non-transparent panel connected to the transparent panel and positioned opposite the first non-transparent panel.

18. The retractable curtain system according to claim 17 , wherein the transparent panel is horizontally positioned between the first non-transparent panel and the second non-transparent panel.

19. The retractable curtain system according to claim 18 , wherein the first non-transparent panel is a rectangular section of material positioned along an upper half of the curtain.

20. The retractable curtain system according to claim 16 , wherein the transparent panel is a rectangular section of material having a light transmittance greater than 90%.
