Abstract

The present disclosure is directed to systems and methods for security and/or automation systems. The methods may include detecting an event in a home associated with a first occupant of the home, and identifying a presence of a second occupant in the home. In any embodiment, the second occupant may be different from the first occupant. The method may further include providing an alert to the second occupant of the home based at least in part on the detected event and the identifying.

Claims (65)

1. A method for improving alert notifications of security and/or automation systems, comprising:

detecting, by a processor of the security and/or automation system, an event in a home associated with a first occupant of the home;

identifying, by the processor, a location of a second occupant in the home, the second occupant different from the first occupant;

identifying, by the processor, a relation between the first occupant and the second occupant;

determining, by the processor, whether the relation between the first occupant and the second occupant is of a first type of relation or a second type of relation;

upon determining the relation between the first occupant and the second occupant is of the first type of relation, blocking, by the processor, an alert being provided to the second occupant of the home; and

upon determining the relation between the first occupant and the second occupant is of the second type of relation, providing, by the processor, the alert to the second occupant of the home based at least in part on the detected event and the identifying the location of the second occupant.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein detecting the event comprises:

receiving an event threshold;

detecting audio data; and

comparing the detected audio data with the event threshold.

3. The method of claim 2 , where the event threshold comprises:

an occupant-inputted event threshold.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the event comprises:

a baby crying event.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the event comprises:

a baby movement event.

6. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

receiving an alert preference;

detecting the event in the home; and

providing the alert to the second occupant based at least in part on the alert preference.

7. The method of claim 6 , wherein the alert preference comprises:

an occupant-inputted alert preference.

8. The method of claim 6 , wherein the alert preference comprises:

at least one of an individual occupant to alert, or a location at which to provide the alert, or a form in which to provide the alert, or a combination thereof.

9. The method of claim 1 , wherein the alert is provided to the second occupant based at least in part on a relative location of the second occupant in the home.

10. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

comparing the location of the second occupant with a location of at least one of a camera, or a speaker, or a control panel, or a personal computing device; and

providing the alert based at least in part on the comparing.

11. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

comparing the location of the second occupant with a location of at least two of a camera, or a speaker, or a control panel, or a personal computing device; and

providing the alert based at least in part on the comparing.

12. The method of claim 1 , wherein the provided alert comprises:

at least one of an auditory alert, or a visual alert, or a haptic alert, or an audio stream, or a video stream, or a combination thereof.

13. The method of claim 1 , wherein the provided alert is communicated to the second occupant by at least one of a camera, or a speaker, or a control panel, or a personal computing device, or a combination thereof.

14. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

detecting physiological data associated with the second occupant in the home; and

providing a modified alert based at least in part on the detected physiological data.

15. The method of claim 14 , wherein providing the modified alert comprises:

at least one of modifying a location of the alert, or a volume of the alert, or a format of the alert, or a recipient of the alert, or a combination thereof.

16. The method of claim 14 , wherein the detected physiological data comprises:

at least one of a heart rate, or a respiration rate, or a body temperature, or facial recognition data, or movement data, or a height, or a weight, or a combination thereof.

17. An apparatus for improving alert notifications of security and/or automation systems, comprising:

a processor;

memory in electronic communication with the processor; and

instructions stored in the memory, the instructions being executable by the processor to:

detect an event in a home associated with a first occupant of the home;

identify a location of a second occupant in the home, the second occupant different from the first occupant;

identify a relation between the first occupant and the second occupant;

determine whether the relation between the first occupant and the second occupant is of a first type of relation or a second type of relation;

upon determining the relation between the first occupant and the second occupant is of the first type of relation, block an alert being provided to the second occupant of the home; and

upon determining the relation between the first occupant and the second occupant is of the second type of relation, provide the alert to the second occupant of the home based at least in part on the detected event and the identifying the location of the second occupant.

18. The apparatus of claim 17 , wherein the instructions are further executable by the processor to:

receive an event threshold;

detect audio data; and

compare the detected audio data with the event threshold.

19. The apparatus of claim 17 , wherein the event comprises:

a baby crying event.

20. A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing computer-executable code for improving alert notifications of security and/or automation systems, the code executable by a processor to:

detect an event in a home associated with a first occupant of the home;

identify a location of a second occupant in the home, the second occupant different from the first occupant; and

identify a relation between the first occupant and the second occupant;

determine whether the relation between the first occupant and the second occupant is of a first type of relation or a second type of relation;

upon determining the relation between the first occupant and the second occupant is of the first type of relation, block an alert being provided to the second occupant of the home; and

upon determining the relation between the first occupant and the second occupant is of the second type of relation, provide the alert to the second occupant of the home based at least in part on the detected event and the identifying the location of the second occupant.
