Abstract

A method for manufacturing at least one transportation tube having a plurality of transportation tube sections for a high-speed transportation system. The method includes manufacturing the tube sections in-situ adjacent to an approximate path of the transportation system where the tube sections are to be positioned.

Claims (33)

1. A mobile tube fabrication apparatus configured for manufacturing at least one metal transportation tube of a passenger vehicle transportation system in-situ at least along an approximate vehicle path of the transportation system, the apparatus comprising:

a foundry configured for manufacturing the metal tube wall material;

a roller configured for rolling the tube wall material to achieve a uniform wall thickness for the tube wall material;

a material bender configured to bend a tube wall material into a cylindrical shape; and

a welder configured to weld a seam between ends of the tube wall material to form a tube section.

2. The apparatus according to claim 1 , further comprising at least one tube crane arranged thereon operable to move the tube sections from the mobile tube fabrication apparatus into position along the transportation path.

3. The apparatus according to claim 1 , further comprising at least one crane arranged thereon operable to move construction supplies and/or materials from support vehicles onto the tube fabrication apparatus.

4. The apparatus according to claim 1 , further comprising a landing pad configured to receive a helicopter.

5. The apparatus according to claim 1 , further comprising one or more storage areas configured for at least one of storing tube construction materials and tubes under construction.

6. The apparatus according to claim 1 , further comprising one or more storage areas configured for at least one of storing pillar construction materials and pillars under construction.

7. The apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the mobile tube fabrication apparatus is operable to move on land.

8. The apparatus according to claim 7 , wherein the mobile tube fabrication apparatus additionally comprises a motor which propels the mobile tube fabrication apparatus, and wheels or treads which are driven by the motor and support the mobile tube fabrication apparatus.

9. The apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the mobile tube fabrication apparatus is configured to move on water.

10. The apparatus according to claim 9 , wherein the mobile tube fabrication apparatus comprises a boat, ship, or vessel.

11. A method for manufacturing at least one vehicle transportation tube having a plurality of metal transportation tube sections for a passenger vehicle transportation system, the method comprising using the mobile tube fabrication apparatus of claim 1 to fabricate the tube sections in-situ adjacent to an approximate path of the transportation system where the tube sections are to be positioned.

12. The method of claim 11 , comprising manufacturing a batch of tube sections at a single location, and subsequently moving the mobile tube fabrication apparatus to a new location to manufacture a next batch of tube sections.

13. The method of claim 11 , wherein the manufacturing the one or more transportation tubes comprises:

forming the tube sections of the transportation tube;

installing one or more tracks in the tube sections;

attaching the tube sections to support structures; and

connecting adjacent tube sections to one another to form the transportation tube.

14. The method of claim 11 , further comprising utilizing the mobile tube fabrication apparatus configured to manufacture the tube sections and operable to move along the approximate path of the transportation system.

15. The method of claim 14 , wherein the mobile tube fabrication apparatus comprises at least one tube crane arranged thereon and which move the tube sections from the mobile tube fabrication apparatus into position on the transportation path.

16. The method of claim 14 , wherein mobile tube fabrication apparatus comprises at least one crane arranged thereon to move construction supplies and/or materials from support vehicles onto the tube fabrication apparatus.

17. The method of claim 14 , wherein the mobile tube fabrication apparatus comprises a landing pad configured to receive a helicopter.

18. The method of claim 14 , wherein the mobile tube fabrication apparatus comprises one or more storage areas for storing at least one of tube construction materials and tubes under construction.

19. The method of claim 14 , wherein the mobile tube fabrication apparatus comprises one or more storage areas for storing at least one of pillar construction materials and pillars under construction.

20. The method of claim 14 , wherein the mobile tube fabrication apparatus is additionally configured to manufacture supports for the transportation system.

21. The method of claim 14 , wherein the mobile tube fabrication apparatus is operable to move along a transportation path as tube sections are manufactured.

22. The method of claim 14 , wherein the mobile tube fabrication apparatus moves on land.

23. The method of claim 22 , wherein the mobile tube fabrication apparatus comprises a motor which propels the mobile tube fabrication apparatus, and wheels or treads which are driven by the motor and support the mobile tube fabrication apparatus.

24. The method of claim 14 , wherein the mobile tube fabrication apparatus moves on water.

25. The method of claim 24 , wherein the mobile tube fabrication apparatus comprises a boat, ship, barge, or vessel.
