Abstract

Methods and devices for treatment of tissues are provided. The methods can be used to interlock first and second components of the composition for protection of tissue or an organ. The devices can be used to treat a number of treatment sites, for example, to provide structural support to hiatal hernia repairs.

Claims (30)

1 . A method of treatment, comprising:

providing a composition, the composition including (i) a composition body defining a circular configuration and including a central opening, (ii) a first component formed in the composition body, and (iii) a second component formed in the composition body, the first and second components being complementary relative to each other and configured to interlock relative to each other, the composition comprising at least one of a tissue matrix or a synthetic material;

at least partially wrapping the composition around or positioning the composition against tissue or an organ; and

interlocking the first component with the second component relative to each other to maintain the composition at least partially wrapped around or positioned against the tissue or the organ.

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the composition body comprises an elongated material curved or formed into the circular configuration.

3 . The method of any of claims 1 - 2 , wherein the composition body comprises a proximal end and a distal end, the proximal end including the first component and the distal end including the second component.

4 . The method of any of claims 1 - 3 , wherein the first component comprises one or more holes or slits passing through the composition body.

5 . The method of any of claims 1 - 4 , wherein the second component comprises a tab including two opposing extensions.

6 . The method of any of claims 1 - 5 , wherein the second component is oriented to substantially face the first component in a non-interlocked configuration.

7 . The method of any of claims 1 - 6 , comprising bending the two opposing extensions of the tab into a non-extending configuration and passing the two opposing extensions through the hole or slit in the composition body in a first direction.

8 . The method of any of claims 1 - 7 , comprising unbending the two opposing extensions after passage of the two opposing extensions through the hole or slit in the composition body, wherein the two opposing extensions prevent passage of the two opposing extensions through the hole or slit in the composition body in a second direction opposing the first direction.

9 . The method of any of claims 1 - 8 , wherein interlocking the first component relative to the second component forms the composition body into a cone-shaped geometry to conform to the tissue or the organ.

10 . The method of any of claims 1 - 9 , wherein the tissue matrix is an acellular tissue matrix.

11 . The method of any of claims 1 - 10 , wherein the tissue matrix is a dermal tissue matrix.

12 . A composition for tissue treatment, comprising:

a composition body defining a circular configuration and including a central opening;

a first component formed in the composition body; and

a second component formed in the composition body;

wherein the composition is configured to be at least partially wrapped around or positioned against tissue or an organ,

wherein the composition comprises at least one of a tissue matrix or a synthetic material, and

wherein the first and second components are complementary relative to each other and are configured to interlock relative to each other to maintain the composition at least partially wrapped around or positioned against the tissue or the organ.

13 . The composition of claim 12 , wherein the composition body comprises an elongated material curved or formed into the circular configuration.

14 . The composition of any of claims 12 - 13 , wherein the composition body comprises a proximal end and a distal end, the proximal end including the first component and the distal end including the second component.

15 . The composition of any of claims 12 - 14 , wherein the second component is oriented to substantially face the first component in a non-interlocked configuration.

16 . The composition of any of claims 12 - 15 , wherein the tissue matrix is an acellular tissue matrix.

17 . The composition of any of claims 12 - 16 , wherein the tissue matrix is a dermal tissue matrix.

18 . The composition of any of claims 12 - 17 , wherein the composition body is flexible to permit at least partially wrapping the composition body around the tissue or the organ, and interlocking of the first and second components relative to each other.

19 . The composition of any of claims 12 - 18 , wherein the first component comprises one or more holes or slits passing through the composition body.

20 . The composition of any of claims 12 - 19 , wherein the second component comprises a tab including two opposing extensions, wherein the two opposing extensions are configured to be bent into a non-extending configuration to pass the two opposing extensions through a hole or slit in the composition body in a first direction, and wherein the two opposing extensions are configured to be unbent after passage of the two opposing extensions through the hole or slit in the composition body to prevent passage of the two opposing extensions through the hole or slit in the composition body in a second direction opposing the first direction.

21 . The composition of any of claims 12 - 20 , wherein the first and second components are configured to remain interlocked relative to each other without the use of suture.
