Abstract

A method for processing a voice message in a computerized system. The method receives and records a speech utterance including a message portion and a communication portion. The method proceeds to parse the input to identify and separate the message portion and the communication portion. It then identifies communication parameters, including one or more destination mailboxes, from the communication portion, and it transmits the message portion to the destination mailbox as a voice message.

Claims (29)

1. A method for natural language processing of a speech utterance input to a computerized system, comprising:

receiving and storing a speech utterance in a computerized system, the speech utterance comprising words spoken by a user, the spoken words including a communication portion and a message portion;

parsing the natural language speech utterance to identify the communication portion of the utterance and the start and the end of the message portion within the speech utterance;

analyzing the communication portion to determine one or more communication parameters, a communication parameter indicating a destination or channel for message delivery; and

automatically transmitting an audio message based on the message portion of the speech utterance using a channel and one or more destinations indicated by the one or more communication parameters.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the destination is a voice mail mailbox.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the destination is an email address.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the destination is a user account on a social networking website.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the destination is one or more user accounts on a service used to initiate the communication.

6. The method of claim 1 , further including transcribing the message portion.

7. The method of claim 6 , wherein transmitting further includes transmitting the transcribed message portion as an SMS or MMX message.

8. The method of claim 1 , wherein identifying communication parameters includes obtaining a destination mailbox from a contacts list.

9. The method of claim 1 , further comprising a recording device recording at least a portion of the message portion from the ambient environment of the recording device.

10. The method of claim 9 , wherein the recording can be stopped only by a voice command from the person who initiated the recording.

11. A system for processing a natural language message in a computerized system, comprising:

a recording device that receives and stores a speech utterance in the computerized system, the speech utterance comprising words spoken by a user, the spoken words including a message portion and a communication portion; and

a processor coupled to a memory storing instructions, the instructions which when executed cause the processor to perform:

parsing the natural language speech utterance to identify the communication portion of the utterance and the start and the end of the message portion within the speech utterance;

analyzing the communication portion to determine one or more communication parameters, a communication parameter indicating a destination or channel for message delivery; and

automatically transmitting an audio message based on the message portion of the speech utterance using a channel and one or more destinations indicated by the one or more communication parameters.

12. The system of claim 11 , wherein the destination is a voice mail mailbox.

13. The system of claim 11 , wherein the destination is an email address.

14. The system of claim 11 , wherein the destination is a user account on a social networking website.

15. The system of claim 11 , wherein the destination is one or more user accounts on a service used to initiate the communication.

16. The system of claim 11 , the memory further storing instructions, which when executed by the processor, causes the processor to include transcribing the message portion.

17. The system of claim 16 , wherein the instructions that cause the processor to transmit further cause the processor to transmit the transcribed message portion as an SMS or MMX message.

18. The system of claim 11 , wherein identifying communication parameters includes obtaining a destination mailbox from a contacts list.

19. The system of claim 11 , wherein the recording device records at least a portion of the message portion from the ambient environment of the recording device.

20. The system of claim 19 , wherein the recording can be stopped only by a voice command from the person who initiated the recording.
